Sharing pictures! I can see the shape now!
Comments (18)Kel, It is cold here! I feel so sorry for the workers who have been framing in this weather. We got started a bit late and our GC was trying to stay ahead of the weather but obviously, we failed. It is SO cold when we go out to visit. I always keep hats and mittens in the car now. It seems especially cold because of the lake I think. It's FLAT! kateskouros , I'm not sure when they will start the siding, but I'm super excited/nervous. Since no one around here has it, I keep expecting to get a call from our GC with some problem with installation even though we've discussed it many times. I will be sure and post AS SOON AS it starts going on. For color, I think we are going with the Mahagony and there will be accents of Cultured Stone's Eucalyptus Country Ledgestone. Lindy, I have no clue on the mortar, so I'm probably be posting to you sometime soon about that since you are such a stone expert! Here is the shake and here is the stone For windows we went with Marvin Ultimate casements except they are a modified colonial with a simulated checkrail and Cashmere cladding. Oh, how I remember the days of stressing over windows. So glad to have that behind me! ponydoc, we are REALLY hoping to be by the time "lake" weather comes around. Our builder says we will be, but after hanging around GW for so long, I'm not getting my hopes up. Y'all will be the first people I invite over for a cyber-cocktail though! LOL! fishpants We modified Mascord's The Brackenbury. We made some changes to the upstairs and basement to better suit our family and the lake living and some exterior modifications to try and achieve a "Craftsman" feel. The knee braces I'm so excited to see go on and the square (versus arched) windows are part of that. It's funny how the little tweaks make it feel like "yours". We are building NE and it is COLD!...See MorePictures, please? I'd love to see your finished screened porch!
Comments (4)Great post! I am looking to forward to seeing some ideas as well with regards to the screens, finish work etc as I am trying to finalize my plans as well. The link below has photos of my partially finished screened in deck. Ipe T&G floor, the posts and walls will be Ipe, soffit and ceiling is T&G fir, and the interior will be finished off with a ceiling fan and rope lighting around channel. http://wedman.smugmug.com/gallery/2116403/1/123007579 Ken...See MoreCan I see your LARGE vertical pictures over your sofa
Comments (15)Thank you terriks for the Photoshop example. I appreciate your taking time to address a solution to a situation. I'm going to keep your post. Actually, the subject matter in this painting is also quite large and not something to be viewed up close. To take the posted photo I moved close to include more of the room contents and I believe this changes the relationship of the art as one might view it were you here. In our home, the piece is viewed looking across the LR from the Entry, or while descending the stairway and I am confortable with how it hangs. It only seems high when you step into the LR and then you are too close to take in the entire subject. Thank you all for the critiques, I am not defensive but am unable to provide you with a real life perspective....See MoreCan I see a picture of your trash pull out ?
Comments (11)oakleyok, I used to have the same setup under my sink. In my new kitchen, I have a much smaller sink base (30"), and most of that space is occupied by garbage disposal, cleaning supplies, dish soap, and trash bags. My favorite part of the trash pull-out is the recycling bin. We used to just pile up recyclables on the counter until someone got around to hauling them out to the garage (our house is a split foyer, so it's a trip down the stairs). Now we just plop cans, bottles, and cardboard in the bin until it's full - out of sight!...See Moreccoombs1
