recommendations for granite fabricators/installers in houston
Comments (11)I met Tommy Schlitzberger at a Home Improvement show and also happened to run into him once when we were at a granite yard. Both times he impressed me as really knowing his stuff, plus very friendly and nice. I would have definitely hired him if I'd been doing the hiring. What I did though, was hire a general contractor who did all the work A to Z. He hired Hollywood Builders to do our granite. The did a great job and in fact I hired them to do a couple of other smaller granite jobs in my house later. So I can recommend them as well. I can't really say how they compare in price because I never got any pricing from Schlitzberger. But I considered Hollywood's price on the things they did directly for me to be reasonable....See MoreSlab pick-up with fabricator. Any advice for me?
Comments (13)Thanks everyone for your comments. Decisions, decisions! teaforwendy..My cabs are a dark brownish/black. Finally had a sample to put next to my del.white and it looks good to me! They are a shaker style door...very simple. I was thinking that I wanted something rounded on top for the following reason: 1. I like the way rounded edges look, even with shaker cabs. 2. The peninsula is a breakfast bar and I thought it would be more comfortable on the arms. Decided to go with a 1/4 round. Round on the top and flat on the bottom. One more decision down...Whew! How many more to go???...See MoreGranite fabricator recommendations around greater Philly area?
Comments (12)I'm a Plumbing & Heating contractor, and I saw this thread while looking for alternatives to do granite in our new home. I've hooked up sinks to granite from Colonial Marble - Santoro - Imperial - Addesso - etc from our area. I got a price from Stonemasters (very nice people and very Professional) but I couldn't justify the $1,700.00 price difference between them and Colonial. Colonial offered us more for our money than Stonemasters, and I couldn't ignore that fact while going through the process. I live by the old adage "You get what you pay for"...and if Colonial was that bad, they would even be in the conversation for me. If the gap was much closer, I would of absolutely used Stonemasters to do our granite, but I will absolutely keep them in mind for my next project. I've seen people rip Colonial marble, and they even made a small mistake on my fathers home, but they do nice as work as well. I've even asked my customers what their thoughts were on Colonial marble...and it was overwhelmingly more positive than negative. One of the best Kitchen renovation companies, in the Norristown area that does high end kitchens on the main line, uses Colonial marble, and for me that speaks volumes, cause their reputation is on the line as well. Anyone that goes to the King of Prussia Mall, can go to the food court, and see the yards and yards of granite installed by Colonial. The bottom line is...for our area, ALL of the companies generally do nice work. I've seen most of their work, but the key for any company is standing behind their mistakes. I move in my new home in 2 weeks, then the granite will be installed, so I will be paying attention to the installation from Colonial Marble. If by some chance Colonial does me wrong and does a terrible installation, I will absolutely come back and do a follow up. However, I've seen way too much of their work to think other wise. One thing to keep in mind, and I requested this with Colonial...for template, I want a lazer template, not the old school way of doing things. It was a deal breaker for me, and I have it in my contract with Colonial. I know this thread is almost a year old, but I wanted to give my opinion for those coming behind me looking for reviews....See MoreDo you use the fabricator your GC recommends?
Comments (11)I'm kind of in this same boat. My "GC" (aka cabinet makers) include countertops in their proposal. However, he told me I am free to use whoever I choose - he said he's not making much money on it. I am getting Cambria and another dealer in town will do the job for $3K LESS than my GC. Of course when I told him that is who I want to use, he insisted I don't want to use them and to pick someone else (they used to use them and they did a horrible job). Frankly, I almost think it's too good to be true - about $52/ft for Cambria. In the end, I think I'm going to fork over the extra cost and let my GC handle the counters. I have 2 sink cutouts, a cooktop and a massive island with posts to cut around - all with no seams. I feel like with all that detail, I need to use my GC's fabricator to ensure it's done to my satisfaction....See Moremarcydc
