Medicine cabinet dimensions? Single or double door?
Comments (7)Katy, Thanks for the pic. Your vanity looks very practical. I want my cabinet to be semi-recessed, so that I'll gain the ~ 31/2" between studs we left room for (biggest advantage of DIY is being able to plan for all these things), AND grab a few extra inches, maybe another 3 1/2? to hang outside of wall so that shelves will be a really 'useful' 6" or so leaving some room for the door itself. I just got what you meant by your body swing, I was thinking sideways, but you mean backwards away from the counter...ahh! Do you think you would prefer 2 narrower doors to prevent that having to bend back, or if you had a free redo, would you stick with the single larger door? Keep in mind, my door will be even wider than yours. Williamsem, thanks for the reminder. I keep my meds in my night table beside the bed. Vitamins in pantry in kitchen. Amazing that we all managed to stay alive for the past half century with our meds in the wrong place! LOL Not sure what you mean by a lateral door hinge, but we are restricted by pendant lights on either side of door, Will have to make sure door (or doors) only open 90 degrees....See MoreFront entry 38" wide single door v. double door? Full wrought iron?
Comments (8)We have iron double doors and they ARE heavy. They are very well balanced though and open and close like "butterrrr". My toddler grandchildren have no problem moving them once they are open. Price these doors before you fall in love with either idea. Our door was reasonable (4K +) but they can run much higher. Your hardware for these doors is not inexpensive either, and if you have the requirements that Renovator spoke of for your area of not being able to leave one side latched- a double may not be worth the security hassles. Our double door is inside a security gated courtyard so we often leave it open in nice weather when kiddos are not around....See MoreSingle vs double door pantry
Comments (5)I have the pull out drawers in a lower pantry cupboard. No damage to the doors, and the cabinets were put in somewhere between 1966 and 1968. However, I despise them for pantry use. I use mine to store things like extra extension cords, platters, etc. I like the type of pantry in Patricia's post. I also like pantrys that have double doors, but, are shelves inside, and nothing to pull out. The pull out drawers, are,to me anyway, just a place to put items that you use very seldom, but, do need to keep, and for storage of screws, nails, hammers, screw drivers, etc that one needs off an on in a house. They are a nusiance as pantry type storage....See MoreDouble door or single door with sidelites for Georgian colonial
Comments (7)Also I would not be bothered with centering the front door. Show a full elevation picture because it was obviously offset for a reason. Symmetry often times is overrated....See MoreLisa
