ASAP plz! need site for cheap single sink

Thanks in advance! We need a recommendation on where we can find a single rectangle or slightly rounded stainless sink. We prefer 18Gauge if possible. Anyone know any good sites for reliability, service and price? Its for our family cottage in Michigan. BIL says a 33 by 22 are the measurements..

I had great luck with overstock.com. Ordered mine there last week and it arrived quickly and is exactly what I was looking for. And at 1/2 what I expected to pay. Good luck!

Hi Inquisitivecat. Wow, what wonderful answers everyone has contributed to your plea for help. I'm agree pretty much with all of the replies and think these folks are awesome. I would like to offer one other point of interest to help you hopefully in your quest for someone to honestly help you. I don't know your location so I'll just say this. Find out if there is a pond club in your area. If there is, go to one of their meetings and observe. Just see if you feel like these folks will help you. Pay close attention to the content of their seminars and see if you observe someone that has the knowledge you're looking for. It may take a couple of trips but usually there will be someone there who will offer to help you whether it be with knowledge or the recommendation of someone who can do the work. I'm here in Texas and I wish I could come and look at your problem. This is how our organization works, we help, not only our members but anyone who needs our help. I'm a hands on kinda gal and I've been learning about ponds, doing research since 1988. Our organization was developed in 1999 because I got sooo sick of bad information and people getting ripped off. I've been the club President for 12 years, took a four year break because my hubby was seriously ill and I'm back at it again. Our policy is lived everyday and I walk the walk. Our folks help everyone that needs a hand and we also help our elderly members if they need their pond cleaned because they aren't able to do it anymore so we believe in charity begins at home. I would start there and see if you can join an organization that will get rid of the $4800.00 dollar man. You may feel inept and I don't know your situation but if its only mind boggling because of the fear of doing something wrong. They can help you hopefully feel more confident and independent. I will say this to add to what everyone else has said. Yes, it needs to be cleaned out and Koi as they get bigger no matter the size of your pond need more room. Goldfish are amazingly wonderful fish but if you find an organization or club, you'll learn all this. God bless you and all the folks here. If you are in Texas, let me know. You have a lot of space, it's just not working very well, esp those little lips that pass for work spaces. If you could really re-do the entire space cost effectively, that would be best, not only for now but for longterm. Can you give us a good idea of what you have in budget and how much DIY you can expend? And where you are in the nation--climate, costs, labor, etc? One problem with planning on finding antiques and useful castoffs is that you will find them a week after you quit your search and commit to a plan B. Doesn't sound as if you have the luxury of time to collect useful stuff. I like to think that our G-shaped kitchen is somewhat like a farm kitchen. We can have 4 working cooks inside without saying "excuse me." We got new oak "shaker" cabinetry by a local guy at $8,000-10,000 and $3500 for finish and installation--you can avoid much of this if you re-use your oldies and work in some additional ones or perhaps just doors, trims, etc. We had to put in new floor and walls and plumbing and electrical fittings and had to marry three wood floors and accompanying walls, which was a big expenditure in time and money. You're in a better position--not making new spaces. As you note, you don't need to follow all the fanciest choices--we sure didn't for much of our project. I like the idea of Ikea butcherblock (we have two hunks of this in beech) but don't discount the new laminate countertops either. Don't feel the need to buy new appliances right now--you can leave standard spaces and swap out your stuff later. That's what we did--hard to trash or sell a 4 yr old Energy Star refrig so we didn't put it into a custom housing. When it dies or someone decides to trade it out, it can go. We have very modest appliances; affordable white enamel in sinks and appliances. If the old cabs are salvageable, it's possible to get doors to match new units. Or give your plain slab fronts a custom paint treatment, perhaps paint with one color and add a distinctive recurrent stencil motif along the bottoms of doors or such in a complimentary color. Then if the other new unit doors are similar, the motif can be used to make them match more. It's very important to plan for the young people when they become adults, or at least adult in physical presence. What will grown up women feel like in the space--you and a subordinate or co-cook? That collision potential was the worst aspect of our old kitchen and the best part of our better planned new space. I actually like other people better in an efficient kitchen than in an inefficient kitchen, or put it another way, my old kitchen made me dislike my own family sometimes. On one of my constant tirade topics, I recommend pullout breadboards/cutting boards to expand work surfaces and plunk space. Are your countertops less than 24 inches at present or do they just seem narrow? Eliminating the 1-inch backsplash at back give you another inch of room on counter. What amp electrical service do you have and how extensive will the work be to bring everything to code if it's not there already? Will you be opening up any exterior walls? If so, insulate, insulate, insulate. Even if it costs. Since you have marked that you are moving the sink, give yourself permission to really redo the room arrangement--you're committed to plumbing costs already. Strongly urge you to visit the paint counter each time you are in a store--ask about "mistake paint." One of our vendors gives it away; others ask $5 per gallon. This stuff might give you the freedom to paint insides of cabs & closets, clean up stained areas, etc. You can try some experiments with it too. Consider a movable work/island cart as a way to expand efficiency. If the floor cleans up but still looks sad, consider stencil painting a design on it, perhaps in a classic folk motif if that's your taste. Or just checks, stripes, rectangles for rugs, whatever. There are a lot of examples to look at and a wise pattern can reinforce or define a room's visual layout--walkpaths, work zones, etc.

OK, I think I'm following you: The ceiling on the sink wall is going to have to stay at 7.5 feet. The cabs with molding are 3.5, leaving only 12 inches from the cabs to the counter. For me, this would be unacceptable. First, I'd pull off the crown molding, which would get you back to 15 inches of free space. Then, depending on how short you are, I'd use shorter legs on the bottoms, dropping the counter height to 35 inches, increasing the space to 16 inches. Now, if the window is wide so that there's plenty of space on either side of the sink to stack dishes, this would probably be enough. But if the window is narrow, it would still feel pretty claustrophobic to me. So I'd call a local cabinet maker, inquire about having the cabs for that area modified. Essentially, cutting 3 inches off the top. The doors may or may not be able to be moded, may have to be replaced. If the finish can't be matched, I'd change it to a different color entirely in this area so it looks more 'on purpose'. This won't be cheap, of course, but it would be better than tossing the cabs out and starting over. In areas where the ceiling is a full 8 feet, I'd leave the cabs alone. I'd try to reduce that 42 inch protrusion into the room, though. At that width, it's going to look like a mistake, not a design feature. Just raising the former florescent area makes the problem worse, since all the cabs would be wrong, then.

What LWO said ... Really, Ms Beagles -- you are already in such a high-end bracket, it's bizarre to hear of these troubles. With all due respect, you are simply paying too much to be this aggravated. Me, I know I'm not paying top dollar: you are. Your GC's job should be to see to it that for all this $$$ you contend with no/minimal aggravation. As surely you must know, that figure you're paying for this tiling job is stratospheric. You know it, they know it. Your GC should know it and while you're never going to hire them again, he might. He's the one the relationship matters with and I'm guessing you pay your GC similarly munificently. While it's tough, I think you should be setting your laser-sites on this GC. Insist he mop this up. Insist he advocate for you: this piddly little couple layers of extra tile should definitely be one of those costs of doing business these guys should suck up. This is their job and your GC should know it even if, somehow, they don't. BTW, while you've conceded it might have been hard for the tilers to somehow know you intended for the tile to go to the ceiling, it's not actually that esoteric an expectation. There's cause for understanding how the misunderstanding could have occurred. Yet there was also several opportunities for them to have figured it out: excessive overage, just plain asking, etc. For example, that's just the first fundamental bottom-line question my tiler asked of our bathroom: are the tiles going to the ceiling? I do think I had the temerity to think, inside, 'of course they are, what are they going to do, stop midway...?' -- but I didn't say anything. I've since come to understand there are a bazillion and one such decisions to be made when tiling and they really aren't all as obvious as that. They seem so to me but there are so many tastes under the sun ... it can't be an easy job tiling under such conditions. I'm sure you and I both aren't the only ones who imagine our expectations are just obvious. BUT... this cuts both ways. Because these presumptions are ubiquitous I am quite certain every single tiler encounters these issues every single day. It is, therefore, an integral part of their job to straighten this stuff all out. It just doesn't work to all innocently say later on: "...I didn't know, she didn't write it all down". He should have asked. But where this should all be being dealt with is at the GC-sub level. The tiler should be whining to the GC "but she didn't say..." and the GC should be shaking his finger at the tiler saying "next time, ask.... deal with it...." or something. While I know this is traumatic and irritating, I think it is utterly commonplace. All that's not commonplace is the tile-guys' presumption that you'll just take care of it all.

I was looking for the same thing some months ago. Someone here recommend MrDirect. Looks like they have a few choices for you. I think the prices seem higher than the last time I looked but hopefully they are still good for you. I have never ordered from them but I don't recall anyone on GW having problems using them.

Check out eBay; there are sellers with excellent feedback that have no-name sinks that are 16 gauge (better than the 18 gauge you mentioned). Several people on this forum have had very good experience with eBay sinks.

What is your budget? The idea of "cheap" varies from person to person, so please be more specific. I really like the Kraus Undermount stainless rectangular single bowl sink. It comes in a 32" size. What I like about it: 16gauge, offset drain (so great to have!), and it comes with sink grid and drain strainer included free (other sink companies charge $80+ for those). Expressdecor is selling it with a 5% off offer, free shipping, so it would cost $351 total.

I have a 16 gauge sink bowl sink from MRDirect and really like it. I believe a few other people have sinks from MRDirect and they were recommended by my granite fabricator.

My goodness! thanks so far. I have sent your replies to my BIL, who also thanks you all. and will keep looking for more. Yes, cheap meaning under 500 if possible. I got my huge undermount 18 G 11 inch deep for under 250 from my granite comp. but my Bro in Law said home depot wants 1100, and is freaking.

My Gosh, you have to go to Overstock and look @ the ticor sinks. I bought a double bowl (they do have single bowls) for $160, it's 16 gauge and stunning. The single bowl would probably cost you a little over $100, shipping was one dollar for me.

I have the 16 gauge TICOR S112 sink and I love it, I think I got it from Galaxy Tool but it is cheaper at Overstock.

If cheap is under $500 then I second the Kraus. I have the 32'' and it's a beauty. (Not installed yet unfortunately). I paid $318 with free shipping.

Alwaysfixin or anyone, what's the advantage of an offset drain? Lots of good recommendations here. Was going to order from MRDirect but will check out Overstock now.

An offset drain is a drain not located directly in the center. It is usually rear-center, but there are a few sinks that have offset drains to the right or to the left. The advantages are (a) you have much more room under your sink for garbage disposal and storage than you would if the drain and plumbing are smack-dab in the middle, and (b) you can soak roasting pan, cookie sheet and the like without covering the drain hole. It seems like a minor convenience, but once you have it, you wonder how you lived without it.

I just checked out the MRDirect website since it was mentioned in this thread. I am not familiar with their sinks, but wow, their prices are low. I will link to a single-bowl rectangular sink they have, with 16 gauge SS, and an offset drain, the #3018. It is smaller than you requested, at 31-1/2" x 18", but it's only $119!

Another vote for Galaxy Tool Supply. Check them on eBay as well. They have an eBay store and, IIRC, you can get some of the sinks for even less than on their own website utilizing the "Best Offer" option.
