uba tuba, sure price is great within the first couple of levels we'd want to stay but... really just want something not too fancy for my house, I also like st celia too but want something w a little more contrast to my cabinets. My cabinets have alot a graining in them and don't want counters too busy either. It makes me a little more hesistant about the verde butterfly b/c it seems to have a more of a larger pattern but like i said hubby seems to like them better and i'm just confused wish i had a magic wand ii just want it to be pretty not regret or want to change something immediatly. All the granite people seem to be trying to steer me away from uba tuba too, i think they burnt out on seeing it so much a few years ago when they installed it so often. Those three I mentioned along with gallio something I did like but im just not crazy about anything else. I'm not a fancy girl, just a country farm girl from georgia so I tend to be attracted to the more plan granites I guess...?? But I love the brick fire and ice look for the backsplash and want it to match it too. thanks for all of your help

We have uba tuba, oak cabinets, and black appliances - with a SS sink. You can see pics below - I've routed you to the main album, but if you go to page 5 or so, you'll start to see the granite, sink, etc. Sorry I can't post directly in - Tripod doesn't allow that and I never have been able to take time to master some of the other photo sites that WILL. I am not sure..... On the one hand I think it would look perfectly nice. But then I read Ellendi and started to think maybe she is right. So then I searched my pics to see white kitchens with dark wood (similar to walnut) islands and now I see what she means. But, what do you like? Because with enough light the kitchen would be beautiful with dark counters on island and perimeter. I also included an picture with Costa Esmeralda. That is a lovely granite too. The cool thing is that you might find a remnant in white marble, or typhoon bordeaux or maybe Costa Esmeralda or even white river that might be a fun balance to the kitchen. ~boxer The perimeter looks like Costa Esmeralda Costa Esmeralda

You could do either the bisque or the white. Your trim is white and your backsplash could be either white or cream - depends which looks best. Maple seems to work with both, but get samples of both. Usually I say don't worry about the backsplash till after the counters go in, but it might effect your sink color choice. That said, my backsplash is cream and my sink is white - but my trim and appliances are white too - so many surfaces to think about:) Here are some pics I found: You need to blow this pic up - the little bit of the sink looks white: This countertop is laminate, so the sink is over mount - white with dark counters, and actually looks fine even though there is no other white: A white apron front sink would look very pretty if you like the style. This is a short apron Kohler Whitehaven with a dark countertop. The "short apron" style can be installed on a standard sink base cabinet: I have that same sink - can be seen in the link I posted in my earlier post. I really like it and with the dark counters, it will lighten up the space. It is a little pricy - mine was around $960 a couple of years ago and I needed to save up a few more months before I began my refresh - not a problem with a functioning kitchen. These kitchens have tall apron apron front sinks. That would require extra work to adjust the cabinet and fit smaller doors: As I mentioned earlier, if you do not have under cabinet lighting, be sure to get some - if only between the sink and range. That is where I have mine - you can see it in my link. You will want it to lighten the effect of the darker counters but also it is wonderful to help see what you are doing.
