Ikea toe-kick drawers (made by Ikea!)
Comments (5)No, unfortunately you can't use those Rationell drawers in the US, at least not very easily, hence the hack. The Faktum system they use in Europe has toekicks that are closer to 6" high, while the Akurum system here is designed for toekicks at the standard US height of ~4"....See MoreA few Ikea Kitchen Sektion tips/hacks...
Comments (16)@alerievay -- We ordered samples. Honestly, I'm not sure its worth it to get the SemiHandmade glossy white over the Ikea glossy white. The Ikea white is very nice; sturdy and a lovely finish. The SemiHandmade walnut is gorgeous though; the grain is beautiful. I think that the wood is where SemiHandmade really shines....See Morecustom drawer depth IKEA maximera
Comments (26)Yes it will work. I've done it. You buy one of the 17 3/4" deep sets, whichever one is cheapest, so probably the 24" wide. You also buy a 15" wide drawer set, again, whichever one is cheapest. Take the bottom of the 15" drawer, and cut it to be the same depth as the bottom from the other set. You take the modified bottom you just cut, the 15" wide back, and the sides from the 17 3/4" set. Put them all together. Attach it to a regular 15" drawer front. You throw away the extra parts. It's a very simple hack, much easier than cutting down the metal sides, like you initially requested info on. If it's too daunting, stick with what you've got. But it can definitely be done....See MoreEnd cabinet conundrum
Comments (5)First, I would use 15" drawer bases on each side of the range, with corresponding uppers, rather than a 12" and an 18". Using available cabinet widths, can you move the DW all the way to the right (with return panel to support counter), and use open shelves, top and bottom, on the end near the entry?I would suggest just moving the run over, but you need every sq. inch of counter space on the left side of the sink....See Morerobo (z6a)
