Lovely! I personally wouldn't paint it, but it depends on the look you're going for. And no, i wouldn't say $220 was too much, considering it's *exactly* what you wanted and you'd have paid a whole lot more for a new piece this size.

Very nice! And as hudson just pointed out, a total bargain when seeking something for which you need specific dimensions. I know that from living in a 1950 ranch that has 8' ceilings and modest sized rooms. Trying to get furniture that isn't designed for today's enormous great room/high ceiling/open plans is a real challenge.

As for painting it, as a Floridian I'd say yes. It definitely is looking a bit tired. Unless you are going for something vaguely Spanish, which you aren't from your original post, paint would perk it up in a big way. White would be pretty, maybe with some kind of complementary shade on the raised portion of the doors. That and some zingy hardware will really make the piece a showstopper!

We have a long media credenza, too, and love it for displays, and for attaching the laptop to watch movies.

I think you'll end up painting it, but think you should wait until you're there to choose a color.

My garage is now half full of tables, nightstands and desks, etc., most under $20, all needing some love before we head south. This will be interesting since I have been more into wood refinishing in the past, but Florida seems to cry out for clean bright light colors. When I see a redone yellow or coral or turquoise or robin's egg piece, I think they are wonderful. I'll have to get over being timid and shake off the painting-wood-is-sacrilige mentality.

I have time to think and pick colors, as we won't move for a year or two. The garage shop is shut down anyways for a couple months until spring. Way too cold out there to paint or finish anything!

Great find and a grey buy too. YOu'd have to look long and hard before finding another piece like that. I also think it would look perfect painted and with new hardware. I'd wait to get it into situ first before finalizing a color choice as it definitely will make a statement in whatever room it's in.

WOW! Those lamps are soooooooooooooo stylish! Those alone are super cool! The credenza is such an odd size...it's still cheaper than "new"....and it's gonna look very custom. ;0) Good find at any price!

Unless you have other painted pieces? I wouldn't paint it either. It has a nice masculine feel. If you need it to be darker......? I might stain it.
