How do I make these woods work together

athomesewing

Toying with the big job of painting my 17 year old oak cabinets, which are still in very good condition, I'm totally weary of the oak grain.

If I do paint them, I will not paint the other woodwork through the house, wrapped windows, doors, millwork which fortunately is NOT oak.

I'm considering a SILVER SAGE paint color for the kitchen cabinets, or maybe a just a portion of the cabinets. With a LOT of other wood in the house, will it seem odd if only the kitchen is painted? If I do this should I leave some of the grainy oak, which is a similar color to the other woodwork to tie it all together?

Thanks for your thoughts! (:
