Parents don't think unwed couples should live together
Comments (31)Children learn what their parents teach them when they're young. I'm none of the above on the left, and yet my parents left me alone to live my own life once I was 18. I think there's more to be said for kids that can step out on their own once they hit adulthood and make their own choices and live their own lives, then the ones that constantly run back to mommy and daddy for input, money, what have you. The point she (and I) have tried to make is be the best parent you can when your kids are children and hopefully you've done the best you can. Once they are adults, leave them alone as much as possible so they can actually become adults -- be there for love, support, and whatever they might need if they're desperate, but don't keep handing them everything, or forcing your own life choices and opinions on them past childhood. I think you do more damage in the long run if you do that. Just my opinion....See MoreTips for making things work when they don't quite want to?
Comments (13)I used to be of the consistent-not-quarters camp but I found that it really does make a difference when you get away from squares and move onto more complicated blocks that have things like diamonds and several components to the finished block. Like this one for example: There were just too many elements relating to one another to fit them all together without precision. I've also tried cutting slightly large and trimming at each stage, but that got old and, since patterns don't always tell you the dimension of each partial unit, I was always doing a lot of math to do my squaring up. Eleanore Burns is great about furnishing that info. But not too many others I can think of. So I've had to learn, like toolgranny, how to boss them around a bit. ;>...See MoreHow do I make these woods work together
Comments (5)I wouldn't leave any oak cabinets the current color if you paint some silver sage. I don't think the silver sage color goes with the yellow oak. Maybe the right shade of creamy white would look OK with the existing oak finish. For a wood finish to go with silver sage paint, I'd experiment with espresso. Or, you could also strip off the current finish, which I'm pretty sure is a yellow lacquer, quite easily, brush on a solution of baking soda for a driftwood-like color that would look great with the silver sage. I have very similar oak cabinets and have played around with different finishes on them. At first I thought it would be easier to paint than to strip and refinish -- but it's not. Not if you are picky about the paint finish anyway....See MoreHow can I make these work together?

So I will just put some old dinning set there and a cheap 2 seater sofa. Again appreciate all of the comments!...See MoreSaina Behnejad
