WANTED: oooooohhhh, i'm the first!!!! (pic heavy)
Comments (23)Very good choices and impressive for a first timer. I had never seen the chicken baker before, but its very attractive and I'll be interested to hear the results from when you use it. It sounds like she did a great job with the cookbook, and that can be very tricky. I'm looking forward to reading about the recipes and what you like in it. Local honey is always very good, and orange blossom is one of my favorites. I always get Central Texas clover honey whenever I go back to visit my parents, but I buy orange blossom honey here. It is supposed to help you fight allergies, but that might be a myth. Good start - especially for following the rules!! Lars...See Morecould I do something to make this kind of oak work for me?
Comments (10)Is your heart set on the type of piece you posted? I am just wondering if it is the most practical way to hang coats and things? Will wet jackets or gear dripping onto the wood cause a problem over time? Would you consider a regular wood or metal coat rack or "tree"? We have recently put one right inside the door everyone uses when entering our home. It is a great thing to have and even better when the items being hung are wet. This past fall DH & I visited BIL out west. Our guest bedroom featured a coat rack to catch all of our clothing that wasn't hung. I loved that convenience, and was motivated to put one in my own foyer. It was great for outer gear. Previously, guests coats landed in my laundry room, piled on top of one another on the WD, as our coat closet in the foyer, is too crowded to hang guests' coats. Even if it weren't full, I wouldn't want wet jackets hung in my coat closet, so the closet tree has been the answer for us. I don't know a thing about the products to change the wood, but am wondering about the wood suffering damage over time from wet jackets, etc? I do think those types of pieces are beautiful, but I've never seen one in a home where jackets are actually hung? The pieces I've seen are usually not sporting any jackets:)....See MoreI really want to make the cream / grey combo work!
Comments (36)I also love the accent chair and the color. Actually it is very neutral. Rethinking your great oriental rug is a good decision. My opinion what is off is the wide scale of style. Even though yours appears to be eclectic it can be hard to blend a cohesive look. My suggestion is to slipcover the couch...I would do it in a pale blue. Scoot the rug closer to the couch so the legs rest a few inches in from the edge. Might I suggest a little shuffle in furniture arrangement? I would move the tall curio cabinet to the right of the couch and the end table to the left. For traffic flow I would move the chair on an angle facing more to the couch. Your forest picture works well with your color scheme above your couch. I would make a gallery wall there also hanging the other pictures. You have a lovely room and great furniture pieces to work with. Good luck....See MoreStyle/type of Sofa (Sectional) would work with a dark brown Recliner
Comments (7)Sometimes it’s hard to have two different learners. If you want to keep the leather love seat then perhaps a fabric sofa or sectional. I’m a fan of sectionals, but ones that have flexibility. Ours is a sofa which chaise plus ottoman. So we can put chaise on either side and use ottoman as part of sectional or as table. It creates flexibility. We haven’t changed it around in two years but I’m glad we have options. Lots of people prefer the sofa look to sectional. It’s really about your space and layout and what works best for your family. I recommend taping out on the floor the options so you can see it better....See MoreLisa Domlija
