My personal preference with that much space between the windows would be for two panels per window. If you did only one, what would you put in the 3' space between them? Of course, you can always buy 2 to start and see how you like the look of only 1 panel each window first. If it looks unfinished or skimpy, you can just order an additional 2 panels.

Hah! I would say one....those ruffles are very dense and if you gather them to double thickness like with a normal drape, I think it will be way too much. If your plan is to use a hook or a tie back to expose the window, then I think one for each window will be fine, and pull them back in opposite directions for an asymmetrical treatment...the 3' of wall space in between won't matter.

I agree with Annie. With the ruffles, the curtains will appear full even if they're not gathered much. I think two panels per window will be too crowded.

Ah, the voice(s) of dissent. I will say that with a regular old panel, I would not have even considered just one. It is the fullness of the ruffles that made me think of it. Free shipping today so I must decide today.

Pottery Barn Sales sell out fast, so I would get two and send one back if you need to.

I have decided to get two for each window and return if one looks good. The white isn't on sale, but there's always the possibility of something being discontinued or changed in some detail so that matching is an issue. And I'm guessing two will look better, though with the full ruffles, I'm not positive.

Oooh. We bought the PB gingham room darkening curtains (since disc.) for our girls' rooms. Buying those was one of the best parenting related decisions I've ever made. Naptime on a bright day? No problem! 7:30 bedtime on a sunny summer night? No problem! We even close them on summer afternoons before the sun can heat up their rooms. At bedtime, their rooms are a much more comfortable temperature than they would be without heavy blackout curtains.

Thank you so much! I had already ordered but did mange to get free shipping so I am content. I still need rods. I was thinking these BlockAide rods in antique brown might be good. The rod color seems to work for the old house that has truly "antiqued" finishes of various kinds in the brown/brass genre. And the curve in to improve the light blocking seems like a good move. I am thinking no tie back with these.
