Window treatment question-How would you dress this window?
Comments (23)Snbtwins, your best bet is decide the length of the rod, where you want the panels to start and stop. Since you are having the panels custom made, I would suggest you use that measurement to figure how many lengths or half lengths of fabric you want the panels to be. When I make panels I prefer them to be at least double the width they were cover. Since you will not be closing them, that would be from the edge inside edge of the window trim to the finial. Measure from arrow to arrow and double (or 2.5 times) to get width of finished panel....See MoreKitchen reveal - a long time coming.
Comments (51)oldbat: I know what you mean. There was nothing "wrong" with the old kitchen. Many people here thought I was crazy to paint the cabs. However, it was a dark space (and being located in the northwest corner of the house doesn't help); and while I may have been able to get away with keeping the cabs "as is" and just change out the granite and backsplash to lighten it up, we just felt that the cabinets sucked the light out of the space. Also, I wasn't crazy about how the old cabinets looked with the floor. I really dislike our floor, but just couldn't wrap my head around refinishing them (3000sf worth). They are quite dated; even though the house is only 11 years old. Every time I thought about other options, I kept going back to painting the cabs. I have a track record of making poor design choices and regretting my decisions, but this was one time I am really happy with the outcome....See MoreInterior door choice for rustic lodge home with traditional nod
Comments (9)I really don't have pics to share now. Framing is being completed. Craftsman, no. We are working with a designer who is very good (I've seen her work) and we originally went with single panel shaker and black lever handles and hardware. There was a problem with inventory and so we had to switch vendors, and once again were given the option of door style. I'd like to make this decision now myself, rather than rehash our original conversation, when we tossed the door ideas around. She was happy with either door style. There are touches of vintage as well as modern elements in this home. I want simple doors, but not flat and not busy either. This is front exterior elevation, but floor plan has been modified. ....See MoreHelp choosing doors for very small hallway with 5 doors
Comments (20)When was your house built? Are there any details to the home that are original, like the front door, fireplace, molding, trim. A lot of these will give you clues about the look to go for in your new door. Sounds like you are at least upgrading to a solid wood, which is great. I suspect that one panel with a shaker type trim is what will look best in this tight hallway with a lot of doors. I recently ordered doors from TruStile. Got it unfinished and my contractor painted it the color I wanted. It is nice in that it has a bit of a classic, historic look but isn't specific to any era and isn't over the top or traditional looking. They were a great company to work with. Here is the door I got. (Had to get three doors as the former owner took the original 80 year old doors off most of the closets. WTF?) https://www.trustile.com/interior-doors/ts-series/ts1000...See Moreram123
