thanks everyone for the advice! I think we are going to start w/ craigslist. I think we may list it in the philly craigslist too in addition to our local one and then hope people are willing to make the drive from philly to get it if they want it. If that doesn't work, then we may think about the ebay thing w/ the local pickup but joyjoy made a good point about allowing local pickup and then not having any proof for ebay, so I am thinking we'll probably keep it if we can't sell it on craigslist. leave the decision up to fate :) At least this is a good cautionary tale- don't buy non-returnable items EVER unless you've seen them in person!

I put my sponges through the dishwasher and then microwave them for 2 minutes. I also change out sponges often. However, I only use a sponge to scrub the sink. I use microfiber cloths for most other cleaning, including countertops. I have small microfiber dish cloths for hand washing, which is very seldom done. As far as the sponge dripping inside the cabinet, it is wrung out before it is put in the tray. I have never had any trouble with it drying. The tray holds a sponge, a brush, the disposer stopper, an SOS pad, and the wrench for the disposer (which I have never used, but you have to know where it is!)

I told the cabinet maker I did NOT want a tip out (didn't like it in the last kitchen for reasons stated above) but he made one anyway. I didn't pay for it and still don't use it. I bought a suction cup thing but my fire clay sink is too irregular for the suction to hold. I balance the sponge on the flat vane between the 1/3 and 2/3 bowls. btw, I used to wring out the sponge after each use but then realized that more often than not, the next time I want the sponge is to do a fast hand wash on something. Now I leave soapy water in the sponge... so it's always cleaning itself and ready for the next wash up.

Hi there - I have had a SS apron sink in use for five months now. I just went down and had a close look at it. No scratches, no dents. Upon close examination there were a couple of marks, look like water marks that weren't wiped up promptly. Similar marks on the fridge come off easily with SS cleaner. A SS sink could certainly scratch, but honestly only toddlers would notice. Unlike the handle area of the fridge that we see at eye level daily, the sink is only "casually observed" from adult height. I never would have noticed the small water marks if I didn't get down and really examine it. You can't notice unless you're looking for it. So, I probably would do it again, based on five-months experience at any rate.
