LOVE what you are doing in the bed area... love the lamps, pictures, furniture, drapery.

Not crazy about the other two lamps, and you definitely don't need both by the chaise.

Besides that, I think all you need is something to ground that corner by the chaise and give it some weight to balance the room. What's up with the big mirror? Can you maybe put that, or some large artwork, on the wall behind the chaise?

Yes, I am planning a large picture in that area and behind the chaise. I took pictures of them but I don't want to overwhelm everyone with so many pictures. The mirror that you see on the right will go up on the wall so I will have 3 large items over there.

I love those 2 flower pics as well - they look like a beautiful match for the SS & the chocolate browns you have. I think they might work nicely over the headboard.

Honestly, I'm not crazy about either of those lamps by the chaise. With all of the other lovely items you have in the room, I'd like to see seomthing with just a touch more....oomph. Like the bedside tables have.

You need something BIG for the TV. It may be 'solid' but it looks like it is unstable. Bad Feng Shui. Get something big and sturdy. Something six feet long for along that wall. Put a round table in the corner by the sofa. Get rid of the floor lamp. I would still look into raising the sofa on bun feet.

The paint looks really pretty! Next time your at HG, look for an accent pillow to go on the bed. I think taller lamps would work better on the night tables. HG usually has a great selection, so keep your eye out. My glass column lamps came from there. I read once that a bedside lamp should be at least 20" from the mattress height to the bottom of the shade for reading in bed or at shoulder height when sitting in bed. A lamp that is 28"-32" in height is standard bedside lamp height. Raise your lamps on some books to get an idea of how that looks and if that might work! HTH!

I did SS in my bedroom a week ago. Where did you get the drapes, RH? I'm going crazy with my bedroom also. Put tan drapes on the window and don't like them. Like the stripe better but can't afford RH prices.

I think the lamps on the night stands are to small. They have some similar but larger. I think that would be a better choice. I would only do one lamp by the chaise and my preference would be the floor lamp.

I would look for something bigger to put the TV on because it doesn't look stable at all.

I would try the chaise angled in the corner and a different table, perhaps round.

Great ideas!! I agree that the tv needs something bigger and longer. I could move the chaise to angle it in the corner but then you couldn't watch the tv from there and the bed would be the only place to watch. I will look for a round table. Are you thinking one of those round ones you put a tablecloth over?? I am sort of traditional with contemporary thrown in and aren't those tables more victorian?

Jane - I really scored with those curtains!! They came from BB&B and they were on sale plus the 20% off coupon. Mine are 95" long but I need 3" more. Anyway, they look identical to the RH drapes bc these are all silk. The name is Athena in blue. I know it is weird that they are blue bc they match the SS perfectly.

Thanks kmcg - I KNEW those lamps were too small for those large tables. I am in search for larger ones. That is why I left the price tags on so I could return them. I do like the look though. I needed to know how many inches they should be so I will look.

No one has said anything about the height of the bed. I really want to get rid of the box spring but DH says leave it high. DD was here for the holiday and she didn't have any trouble getting in and out.

I think your room is beautiful. The only thing that bothers me is the small white stand by the chaise. Seems like it throws everything else off. Otherwise I love it.

Hoya, I know that you have said you like the sofa there for TV watching and not angled in the corner like you first had it. But sometimes just the tiniest change can make a difference. Can you angle it so that it is not at a right angle against the wall? Angle thirty degrees it so that your feet would be towards the TV and your head towards the window. I'm only talking about just a few inches. Then put the plant behind it to fill in the space.

Do not get a skirted table for the corner. They are too fussy and it would be too bulky for the tiny room. Whenever I see one of those, I always see the cheap particle board, wobble table underneath in my mind. Feng Shui.

The corner need something substantial to fill in the empty space. Do not get a little pedestal table. Get something with four legs. Here is a nice four legged one with a glass top to keep it light and airy looking, and a bottom shelf to fill in the area:

Yes, the lamps are a tad too small for the table but they do not look bad. Since you gave yourself the option of returning them I would do it. I live the fact that you chose clear glass bases for them. They add sparkle to the room and visually take up less space in the tight corner. Great idea! I would stick with glass bases when you shop for new ones.

I think the bed height looks fine. You say it is not a hindrance to those who use it. I would keep it the way it is.

Thank you so much for all the suggestions. The lamps will go back on Sat and while I am at HG I will look for a light and airy table that might fit in that space so thanks for that suggestion. Dilly - I am now sitting on the chaise with it ANGLED and I love it. I am facing the TV and it doesn't look bad at all. I am using the floor lamp behind me. I am putting a palm plant in the corner to fill the space and I think it will look nice once I hang those large pictures I have (one is a lithograph of a church in Rome and the other is a Delacroix (sp) of a Paris scene). I am still not sure about the little square pictures - I will wait until I find some lamps.

I could move the TV down toward the corner - hmm, looks like I will be playing with the room all week! I am going to stop by the outlet mall and see if RH has any lamps that might work.

I would love to see a taller, slightly chunkier crystal lamp for the night stands for some bling.
After hitting an antique store today - I saw a booth with alot of empty ornate frames.....what about taking a pair of matching empty frames & putting them behind the slightly oversized lamps? I am thinking it would be gorgeous & dramatic.

You asked about the height of the bed & to me it looks like it works quite well with the night stands.

Also, what about a mirrored (is it too trendy) console for the TV?
I know you need something more solid but something with some bling:)

Johnatemp - I love that table - where did you find it? I think I need something different from the two nightstands (DH still wants me to order another nightstand to put the TV on). The only problem with a lot of the TV stands (like the one Dilly suggested which was beautiful btw) is that I need it tall enough to see from the bed - at least 30-32" tall.

Your suggestion of the picture frames intrigued me. I always have a picture frame in my guest room with a picture of the people who are staying there - like my mom and her dog, my BIL with SIL, DD and bf, etc...I just change out the picture when they come. But you said empty - how big?

Yes, the room is a work in progress and hopefully I will find some lamps soon - guests are arriving on the 20th. I told DH no Christmas presents for me - I am having too much fun decorating this room. LOL

I did not suggest a specific TV stand. Only said that you need one that is 6' LONG and takes up wallspace and looks sturdy like its doing it job.

The link I provided to a four legged end table was to put in the corner next to the sofa to fill in the space and give the sofa something next to it. You now have a little white chest there scrunched against the wall tight in the corner, and said you were thinking about getting one of those skirted tables in the corner. You need something in the corner that is not so bulky yet not whimpy. The link was a suggestion of the type of table that would work in that corner. The one linked to was oval but a round one would look better.

I like the TV console Johnatemp pictured. It has substance. Being on four legs gives it a more airy feel. It won't block the view when entering the room like a big cabinet would.

Now, these are pricey - restoration hardware but something like this - a knock off from HG - we don't have HG's here, you are lucky!!

As for the frames, I was thinking big. Like you are framing the lamps - in a matte silvery finish. You could buy any color - they wouldn't even have to match exactly & paint them yourself.

Then you could add silver framed photos on the nightstands....a crystal decanter for water, maybe pick up a silver/pewter mint julep cup with an arrangement for the nightstand.

Just a thought, but do you have a dresser or chest in the room for clothes storage? If you plan on that in the future, then be careful about the size of the console for the TV if it would be going on the same wall. However, I do agree that wall needs something to balance the visual weight of the bed and nights stands. Would some sort of TV armoire work? Does the MFG of your bedroom furniture have an armoire or TV stand?

I did go to the outlet mall after work today and checked out RH and they had one lamp that was just like the one Johnatemp posted. They only had ONE though. So I walked over to Pottery Barn and they had 4 lamps left and they were 50% off the already discounted price AND they came with the shade. Score! So I bought two and set them up. I really liked the others better (the HG's and the RH's) but these were the right price and they were glass like I was looking for. Not as "blingy" but they add to the airy-ness (is that a word?) look I was going for. I didn't have time to check HG and then go back to PB so I just bit the bullet and bought the lamps. They are taller than the last set and have the barrel shade I like. Here is a picture:

Kmcg - I have a full sized dresser in the walk in closet (double doors). It is an old solid cherry piece so it doesn't match. It fits fine in the closet with room on both sides to hang clothes. So I don't plan on putting a dresser on that wall (it was there before).

I also took Dilly's suggestion and angled the chaise for TV watching. I took out the white table and put a plant there for right now. I did find a round "table" at PB that might work. I should have taken a picture but it was wrought iron, round, just the right height and size for next to the chaise...but...there was no top. It is missing the glass insert. I asked the manager bc none of them had the glass. She said it doesn't come with glass that some people have a glass insert made or they make a mosaic to fit in. They had plenty so I didn't buy it bc I thought I would check out the price of having a piece of tempored glass cut to fit it. She said some people cut a board and paint it. Thought it was weird but it was the right size. I will check out tables at HG when I return the lamps.

Oh, I like those lamps a lot and if you got a great deal, they're even better! Ok, so no dresser will be going there. Just wanted to make sure. I still like the idea of some sort of armoire for the TV to balance that side of the room. I think you're guest's will never leave!

I can't believe this is a guest room. I'm going to look for those drapes as I used the same paint in my master bedroom/bath. My duvet is a beige silk. Do you feel the wall color looks blue? Mine looks more blue than sage. I used a taupe drape and am not crazy about it. I'll check BB. Love the lamps, I'm looking also.

jane - yes, the paint does lean toward the blue side - doesn't really look green to me. Did you use the RH SS or did you go with BM Gray Wisp? Mine is the BM in Aura which covered in one coat - awesome. The room faces S/SW so I thought it was blue bc of that. If you have a beige duvet then those drapes are a perfect match bc of the beige stripe. Let me know if you find the drapes. I will look here to see if they have any left - what size do you need?

The Pottery Barn lamps were a great deal - $45 including the shade so that is why I couldn't pass them up. They aren't as fancy and elegant as I would like but for the money (esp right now) they will do fine.

The MFG does make a large cabinet to store the TV but it's expensive and it is toooo large for that space.

If anyone has time to look up this table that Pottery Barn has on sale - ADA SIDE TABLE - could you let me know if you think that would look ok next to the chaise? They have several at the outlet but I am not sure how much they are. I tried to find a picture of that other table (the one without the glass top) on the website but couldn't find it. This one maybe too light and airy.
I will check out HG bc they do have some interesting glass-like tables.

I would look for a pillow to place in front of the shams for the bed also.

Kcmg - I just returned from RH and got that throw that Les recommended. It is awesome and ties in all the colors. I had a 20% off coupon (let me know if you need the code number) and it was on sale.

I checked out HG and no tables but...they had 2 fantastic lamps that I would have bought in a heart beat. Dang - I look and look and then after I buy there they are. Oh well, the PB lamps are good enough.

Johantemp - thanks for hanging in there with me. I thought about those garden seats - they had some at HG - it would be something different and not to matchy with the furniture. I will check Pier One.

Wow, hoyamom, this room is looking great!!! When can we come visit? This would be a perfect guest room for a family with a small child who could sleep on the chaise. I know you are looking into a larger table for the TV--make sure it is lower as well as the one you have there now looks a tad high. As for your bed height, I think it is fine--esp. with the larger sized lamps you bought. Great deal too!

Valinsv - I wanted a higher table for the TV because when you are watching tv in the bed you can't see it if it lower. You can't see it over your feet. That is why it's been a pain to find something. I am ready to put the pictures up but I know you all won't like the pictures bc they really don't go in there. I will post them later.

I think I may go ahead and get that "table" from PB and have a round piece of wood cut to fit the top, paint it (maybe white, gray wisp or black) and then have a piece of glass (from the frame store) to fit on top of the painted wood. Either that or find a porcelain seat.

Ok, I need to make a decision on the table next to the chaise. The room is all together except for the table. I will show pictures later but now my question is -

Should I get a round glass table, round glass and wood, or all wood??

I don't think I can get the woods to match and it might be too much wood so if I can't find a garden seat should I go with glass and metal (nickel or black).
