Found my inspiration kitchen -Please help with Laminate selection

While I knew (in my mind) what I wanted my kitchen to look like I didn't have any photo which I could point to and say '' that's my kitchen!'' until now. I was looking for examples of white/light islands with medium stained perimeter cabinets and found this kitchen.

What I need help with is finding a laminate (yes - shocking isn't it) to mirror the granite? in the photos. I have been looking at Basalt Slate - but am open to other choices.

I will have light tan walls and still thinking about backsplash choices - suggestions also appreciated - I am partial to larger tiles 4x4+. We have very large open kitchen/dining area, open to most of the main level, lots of family antiques, etc.

Basalt Slate is very nice. I have that in my laundry room.

I'd also suggest you look at WilsonArt Bahia Granite.

I had a hard time choosing my flooring. In addition to your concerns, I wanted something that would be easy on knees and feet,hide a few spots in the kitchen between cleanings and easy care. Tall order but I found the perfect floor for me. There's even a lifetime warranty on the finish. It goes with gray and cream too! with sunlight coming in the window... It was easy to install. My GC did the install but a DIY could handle it. The company (link below) also makes a similar product for HD, it's not as heavy and the finish is not as good. At HD it's called Allure. Haha, lavender, my builder would kill me, esp. after the last minute change w/ the laundry/dog wash area. Plus, DF is never going to go for it :( Everyone has told me time and again that 4 fireplaces are enough (so untrue!) and I already upgraded the fireplaces we do have to bigger and better ones, inc. adding a marble mantel to one and blue bahia surround to another, so my fireplace spending has been quite out of control. Plus, I got my engagement ring for christmas so I'm sure DF thinks he's spent quite enough already on me :( I will have to live vicariously through you! Just make sure you post LOTS and LOTS of pictures once you have yours installed!! Your kitchen is going to be sooooo beautiful and cozy and inviting!! And, if it really bothers me, I'll ask for it for christmas next year! It's right by an exterior wall, shouldn't be too expensive to add on later, right...

Schuler=Medallion. Pick of the litter. Diamond would be next. The rest are lower end, not mid grade. Every single line that exists will have a white shaker door. From the most expensive to chinese crapola. But stay away from the box stores and have a healthy budget if that kitchen is your inspiration. That's about 60K worth of cabinets there. Not to mention the appliances and every other detail.

To me, the inspiration pic has a touch of green and some motion. Labrador Granite?

After reading the suggestions and trying to take a closer look at the kitchen photos, I found two additional possibilities, both Wilsonart HD. I think they are both available to order locally.

Have you checked into the new formica 180fx? I am waiting to see samples locally, I wanted to order samples online but they wouldn't ship to Canada.

Thanks sasgal! That is really good-looking formica. Too bad it isn't widely available yet. We plan on being in the house around the end of Sept.
