Comments (22)Ok gang we have a price... $15,000 for the treasure house and all the goodies. The bad thing is banks won't loan less than $30,000 for a house. So we have to find someone to give us a personal loan. We haven't priced the main house yet. Jimmy wants to keep his gnomes...and that's ok. He really loves them. LOL Cait... yep they both have one bathroom... which makes it hard... most people want at least two these days. They built a little add on to each house for the bath room.. so I don't know how a second one can be done. It will be a little while before we close. Dh and his sis are buying the daughter-in-laws house also for $15,000. All it needs is painting. The sad thing is they are moving the inlaws into the basement. They are going to have it finished with a bedroom, kitchen/living area... but Jimmy loves buying this stuff and there will be no room. He will be heartbroken... Even though they are going to move he still picks things up. It tears me up just thinking about it....See More'Home Decorators Collection' catalog
Comments (6)I bought a white vanity for my MBath. I have his/her pedestal sinks and needed storage for make up, cleansers, etc. I wasn't pleased with the quality I found at our local big box stores, so I decided to try one from the Home Decorators catalog - I think it was from their "Hampton" line. I'm very happy with it. It required assembly, but the directions were good and it fit together perfectly. The boards were solid and not at all flimsy, and the finish is very even. I looked over the ones at Pottery Barn (that I had considered, but were a lot more $$)and I think my Home Decorators one compares nicely. It's not what most people would consider heirloom quality, but I'm very pleased with it and would order from them again....See MoreHow to decorate a dining room when you don't want a dining room
Comments (19)I love having a dedicated INformal dining room! Yes, it's 'The Dining Room,' but it's not formal. Long farm table, comfortable chairs, warm lighting, flooring and surfaces that won't get damaged by kids or spills. A really warm and welcoming place to eat meals as a family or with friends. The 'breakfast nook' has just never been my favorite. Even when the space is nice, the furniture is rarely of a caliber that brings joy to the users... I'd replace that with two comfortable wingback chairs and a tall side table -- the kind of place you could have a cup of coffee and read the paper, or sit with a glass of wine while your spouse makes dinner or cleans the kitchen. The other great use for a 'breakfast nook' IMO is as a kids' homework area or auxiliary baking table. Another great use for an unused dining room is (if you can close it off) as a TV room. Get the TV out of your family room and reclaim that space as a family gathering area without the constant racket of a TV....See MoreHome Decorators Collection Lighting- Yay or Nay?
Comments (10)Ugh...now that you've posted pics of the two side by side.....I definitely like the Armonk better. We have a 13' pitched ceiling and I'd say that it's about 10' where the light would hang from. Can't put my finger on it, but there's something I don't like about the Wayfair one. Maybe too "squished"? And I didn't even notice that the candles were taller, but I do like that better. Perhaps I should wait until I have the money to get the one I truly want. On another note, I do like just a basic, farmhouse chandelier look with large sweeping arms and candlesticks. I'll be on the lookout for that as well. I plan to refinish our round table which I believe is 48" to 50", and if I can, find muslin look chair slipcovers for my upholstered chairs. Do you think the cord covers look Ok? I don't mind the chain, but was wondering if wrapping the chain in thin rope would add some texture and look good. I can envision it, but wanted to ask what y'all think about it. Also, this was posted for sale...$10. How about painting this bronze or black?...See Morepalimpsest
