I have probably posted these before but I will again.
Mine are dupioni silks - the ones in the dining/living room are goblet pleated and the blue ones in DH's study are inverted pleats with his navy buttons sewn at the top.
I think I need to put something on the windows themselves to soften the look but so far I like them like this.
We are planning on painting so pardon the builders white.

I just hung these in my family room today. They are from LNT, but I bought them at Ross' dept store for a fraction of the cost.

They hang beautifully; very much like silk.

Here are mine. They are some kind of blend. I get a lot of sun in this window and was concerned about silk. They do have a silk like texture. Pinch pleated with a navy blue band of fabric doing across.

Well, since I painted my LR in a sage last year, I decided that I needed new drapes too, so I finally got busy and made these, using Waverly Concord Bronzine.....I wanted something that kind of blended with the walls instead of contrasting, as is my usual style.

Red, I am assuming yours look great - like everything else I've seen of yours. I am not able to see your picture. Can you post it again, please. I am very interested in seeing what those look like as I am considering a fabric that had a same look/feel as your fabric. Thank you!

Red, your picture didn't show for me either. But thanks for the link. Those look great! I wish I could see more of the detail of how you did the top. Did you just fold them over to form a caseing, and then trim the bottom with fringe?

I wonder what's going on with my photos lately? In answer to your question, I actually cut a separate piece with a curved lower edge to make the valance. I sewed the valance and the panel together, then, made a casing at the top for the rod. It was pretty easy. And attaching fringe was a cinch too. I made a pattern for myself in case I need to make them again sometime.
Tomorrow, I will take a closeup.

Now this morning I can see the picture in Red's original post. Yeah! Red those look wonderful. I sure wish I could sew myself - it is so nice to be able to actually make such nice things for your home. Thanks for sharing.

I'm still debating about the trim. Somehow they seem to hang better with the trim on them, although the print on the fabric actually should be enough. I just sewed the trim to the edge in a way that it would be easy to take it off.

BTW, Love your drapes. Great color; very sophisticated look!

Your drapes are beautiful! I am going to try to make plain panels for the GBR. Are yours 2x the width of the window?

Here are the dining room panels I made. This isn't the best picture to show the panels but you can get the idea. Four panels total, red/brown/green/gold striped silk with triple pleats.

I have silk in the LR but for the FR went with a PB heavy velvet. It is sort of a camel color. Forgot the exact name.

Jjam, I love the trim. Please leave it. It adds such a nice touch.

I make all my panels using 54" wide decorator fabric and since I generally either just turn under the edges about an inch, or seam the panels to a liner (usually taffeta) they end up being about 50" wide. I like that width for a nice-hanging panel.

Here is a closeup, but the photo came out so big that I am just posting a link. You will need to scroll down the thumbnails on the left to get to the last one--the top of the LR panel. You can see where it is a separate piece seamed to the panel itself. (and unfortunately, you can also see where there is no lining and I just turned my edges in an inch and sewed them!)

jjam, canobeans, and bonnie, all of your drapes are gorgeous. jjam, I really like them with the trim, but I know what you mean about feeling like the fabric should be able to stand alone. Since it's up, I'd leave it as it looks great. canobeans, love the colors and they make your room look so striking! Bonnie, you have many pretty panels in all parts of your house!

Red, thanks for the closeup. You did a great job and your draperies are opulent and scrumptious.

Jjam, I'd leave the fringe. They look just wonderful and the fringe adds a bit of play and friendliness. Besides, all those little touches make draperies look so much more expensive and custom.

Everyone's panels are so pretty. Hoyamom, that blue panel is a real head turner.

My whole house has drapes, and I love the look.

jjam, I love your trim. In fact, when just scrolling through this post, I immediately thought that the trim gave them that extra "something." They are very sophisticated, and that's a very pretty room!

I have really loved looking at these beautiful window treatments! Beautiful windows always seem to elude me! I love the look of a sophisticated panel...but I don't care for looking at the rod. It doesn't seem to bother me when looking at these beauties, though! Hmmm. Maybe I need more attractive rods.

The decorating dilemmas are always so much clearer for me when I view actual photos, versus catalogs, etc. I have stayed away from here far too long.

Hi Kitchenstumpt2! Good to see you too. And I know Exactly what you mean about looking at panels. I was making valances, london shades, or even what my husband mockingly refers to as, "Romantic Balloon Curtains" for years, simply because the panels always looked lame to me. Finally, on someone's post on a long ago (at least 5 years!) thread at another board, somebody did a blow-by-blow account of how they bought the dowel to make an extra long rod, spray painted it black, then, used a .99 bottle of craft paint in antique gold to antique it and make it look more expensive. They bought their antique gold (already finished) brackets & finials from JCPenney, and had a beefy pretty rod hung. Then, they made extra wide drapes out of really nice waverly fabric, and voila! I loved the look. And I realized that my cheapness, (frugality? budget-minded decorating? Scrooginess?) didn't have to hold me back from panels any longer.
