Question about wintering over brugs
Comments (21)I had pretty much the same conditions as Mary but put one full sun bulb and one grow light bulb in the shop light fixture. I had a table beneath it that the cuttings were on and all the rest of my tropicals spread out through one side of the garage. I would leave the door open on nice days while I was at home and that was about it. Most did fine except the cuttings I got later around Christmas. I think if they get a little bit of a start and begin to root they would be ok like that. I don't know about starting cuttings with no light at all. It just doesn't seem like it would work. I had a small space heater in there that I kept on fan only but the heat part would kick in if it got too cold. It never got below 45 and that was on the very coldest night. Stayed about 50 with the doors closed. I am thinking about using the shed for the ones I want to go dormant since its dark and colder in there....See MoreI have painted walls!
Comments (12)Lindy and Amy, thank you so much! kats, I'm on Kauai. And I agree, the porch (we call them lanais here) was VERY important. I did the floor plan and the layout for the deck, and gave all that to the architect. So he had to design the roof to fit the deck. :) It's 8 ft wide in front of the living room, 6 ft wide in front of my bedroom, and wraps around three sides of the house. It's ipe wood, and my GC is talking about just letting it go gray, but it's so gorgeous I'm thinking about trying to keep it up (per John Hiatt's instructions in the deck forum!). I'd appreciate feedback on painting the deck railing and house. I've got one color and a trim color. The painter is recommending only the pillars get painted the trim color, and the rest of the railings be painted the same as the house. I don't like that idea, and think that at least the top of the handrail should be painted the trim color (which is an off white, the house will be a sagey green). I know the red dirt here is going to be a challenge, but I don't think it will look right if the entire railing is painted the same color as the body of the house. What does anybody else think about that????...See MoreFinally Done with my dragonfly stack-n-whack! (pix)
Comments (39)Thanks for all your kind compliments. This was my learning quilt for using my free motion foot AND walking foot. Learned what a pain the walking foot can be while trying to go around hexagons! And also that I really need to leave my sandwiching until Quilting group at church so i can tape the backing to the table while I'm pinning. I'm loving looking at it. It's a bit hot here at the moment to enjoy covering myself up with it....See MoreIt's done! It's done!! It's done!!! It's done!!!!
Comments (13)Ah francy, francy.....that's mighty fancy! LOL. I leave the computer for a while and come back and lord love me you finished your apron! I LOVE your pictures....seeing the project makes this forum so much fun. Your sewing area looks very very familar...like my own... threads and "snippits" all over the table, across the floor to the ironing board and back, never mind those I wear on my clothing when I sew. This apron makes me think you should grab some of those scraps, tie them loosely in your hair with a big knot to the front, don that apron and be standing at your lovely stove banging a wooden spoon in a pot when DH arrives home tonight....You could be standing there ala Lucy....saying things like "Now look Ethel, Ricky won't believe me for a minute it took all day to make this thing..... and no housework done. I've got some serious 'splaining to do!"...... If I lived closer I could be your friend Ethel....what a duo we'd make! Now apron one is done.....get on with your "cherry" project! No wait, first go and BUY MORE fabric......only look at the price this time. Budster....See Morerhome410
