Sounds like you need to split the room up into two areas. It is big! Think in terms of a TV area and a sitting area, perhaps with bookcases and a large "reading table", reading lamps, etc.

My favorite author on furniture arranging is Billy Baldwin. See if you can find Billy Baldwin Decorates at the library.

I'm assuming the fireplace wall has no windows although it seems odd that such a long wall would have no windows if it is an outside wall. I would build cabinets on either side of the fireplace and house the TV in one of them, and make the other one a book case. I would put the couch facing the fireplace with the club chair at an angle next to it on the TV side. Hopefully there will be another chair at some time for the other side of the couch. You could have a narrow table behind the couch with decorative items on it to lessen the impact of the couch when you walk in from one of the doorways. There should be end tables at each end of the couch and of course a coffee table in front of it. If you put the TV between the doorways the couch will back onto the fireplace which would look rather odd, especially since furniture should be grouped around the main focus of the room, which is usually the fireplace. There could be chairs with small tables or perhaps a love seat near the windows at the short ends of the room for ancillary sitting areas.

It would be nice to have photos of your room to get a better idea of your layout. Good look in solving this situation.

This sounds very much like the living room in my old cape, except that mine is worse at 10x25! I have divided mine into a living room in the front part and a breakfast nook in the back, since it's off entry to the kitchen.

Having two separate areas - no matter how you choose to use them, is the best bet here. The view out my bay window is beautiful, much better than the view out my dining room, so I eat all my meals there. Your family may need an office, a library or an area to play board games, etc in the area that is set aside from the living room. It's hard to converse across a single 25 foot room.

These are pics from early last year and furnishings have changed now, but it shows the layout. The TV is in the armoire shown in the front.

The fireplace is about 1/3 the wall down a long wall, and across from the sofa.

I angled this loveseat to separate the living room part from the table in the back.
