early present from DH !!

He and a carpenter friend surprised me by fixing my garden shed . It is SO organized now! The first pic is how the right side looked. It now has the bikes hanging. The left side was just a few nails in the studs to hang things. I am so pleased.

My junque man also gave me this heart pine work table. I am going to refinish it in the Spring. Now I have no excuse to not get all my projects done LOL.

What a good idea for a present. I would love for my husband to do a job on the honey-do list as a present.

Brillant ideas!

LOVE LOVE LOVE the table -- it would also look wonderful as a kitchen island! But as a craft table -- outstanding!

All during our 36 year marriage I've prefered helpful things like appliances, good cookware, riding mower, dehydrator, etc. than jewelry or silly stuff. His mother would get really nasty if she got anything other than clothing, jewelry or dolls. Both DH and previous spouse gave me jewelry and I appreciate it, but a tiller is the tops. One of DH's first comments to our neighbor was he expected me to till up the entire place - 21 acres and it is so tempting. I've bugged him so much for another tiller for so long. My first one, a front tine, I got from my dad 27 years ago. Talk about needing a chiropractor! This last one didn't even last 1 year and it was a beast. Happy dance and hoping the rain stops and it dries up very soon.

Way to go Carol! I'm glad you love it Kirk! I remember mowing the lawn with one of those when I was a teenager. Dad had a riding mower but we had moved to a tiny lot and it was too big to use. I loved mowing the lawn with with the push reel mower. I have seriously been planning to buy a new one for the kids to use. We have been fighting with the gas mower since right after we bought it. Every time it is time to use it, it won't start or stay running. The reel mower will always start as long as you eat a good breakfast! Glad you like your Father's Day gift! Micki

Surprisingly, DH seems to really like them--in fact he suggested that I do the dining room table with them so he could show them to DS and any friends who come by! Hmmm! Maybe he's gonna become a dishaholic too! Wouldn't that be great? LOL I'm not usually into logos on things, but I think I will try to use these once a month or so for DH to enjoy. (And to remind him of how lucky he is to no longer have to work those long hours and deal with all the problems for his union members.) DD, yes, he is a locomotive engineer. Just got his 30 years in so that he can retire! He has been a local chairman also for the last 28 years! Being local chairman helped with the time off part at least to some degree, but you are so right, they get called to work any time of the day or night and can work from 6 to 16 hours and never know which it will be! Can be really hard on marriages and families--luckily I had allot of training before hand--he was in the military for 11 years too! How long until your DH will get to retire? Tell him to stay safe, and bless you for always being there for him when he does get to be home. ;o) Luvs

Oh yeah, he loved it! I've got a Christmas morning picture, haven't had time to get it off the camera yet.. I'll get to it this weekend. That is a cat in the background. That's Riley. I was working in his space. He lives in the garage. Can't come in the house, he has a spraying problem. He's been neutered, but the behavior won't go away. It's a shame because he's such a sweet boy. We have 5 cats, 3 of which moved here from neighbors homes. We tried returning them, but they wouldn't stay. Liked it better here, so the owners said "just keep them, they obviously like you better". Cats know where they want to be. You never "own" them. Another one moved here from Tennessee while we were visiting there last February. It was about 20 degrees and he camped outside our door. He was huddled on a plastic grocery bag. By the 3rd night he was sleeping in our bed, when we got ready to come home he got in the car and moved to NC. His name is Gatlin, he came from Gatlinburg. ahhhh, Trailrunner!! You are a gal after my own heart! My Dh just got me 2 bigcabs for our anniversary in Sept for our garage organization for all my stuff.

We both are very amateur bikers, too. I just recently picked it back up this summer. Sadly, dropped it this winter.... too cold & dark when I get home:(

Good job, DH & I love the pine bench.

No excuse for you anymore. That work bench would have made an interesting working kit island. Quite a treasure for tools.

Believe it or not DH said there is a case to be made for not being organized...he said that if stuff is put lots of different places then the chance of finding what you want is greater than if everything is put just where it belongs...then you have to remember that ONE place...hahaLOL>..he is a funny guy !

DH is trying to figure a way to use the table in the kitchen...I was amazed when he suggested it. He said "this would be a great baking center". It is 6 ft long though and my current island is 4ft and fits perfectly. I would have to sell it. Then the only possibility with this bigger table is since it has wheels if it sat where the fireplace is , straddling it as it were, then I could roll it to the center of the kitchen and back out of the way....I am thinkin' believe me of a way to get it in the house:)

And yes this man is a peach of a guy ! THANK YOU ALL> Hope you get great presents too ! c

trailrunner: Your DH sounds like a wise man!! And a good gift-giver too. The heartpine table is great - I am sure that you will enjoy using it wherever you put it. Make sure you post a picture after you refinish it.

faux: that he is...when you come the the YH on a Fri. night you can meet him...I will post as soon as the weather is warmer...I hate refinishing outside in cold weather.
