Wainscotting or no wainscotting in powder room
Comments (13)I have wainscot in one of our bathrooms. I do't think it is necessarily a cottage look, especially in a bathroom. It's not like you are adding it to your living room or kitchen. It could look cute in there, but it does look nice the way it is now. What color are the walls?...See MoreWainscoting small dining room?
Comments (16)Definitely get the shell done first--I agree with Anglophilia to remove the wallpaper and do it right. Here are some of my favorite dining rooms for inspiration: Country Swedish: American Colonial with nice contrast between formal dining table/chairs and country hutch: Country English (note the applied molding instead of a full wainscot): Formal 18th Century with stunning scenic wallpaper: Formal 18th Century with very highly paneled walls/neutral palette: 18th Century dark Queen Anne furniture with light and bright wallpaper, rug and curtains. Eclectic formal dining room with lots of color, pattern and metallic finish:...See MoreNew house. Living room and Dining room too small.
Comments (26)Hi. No reason you cannot create a to scale floor plan now. Any decision in the living room needs to be done in conjunction with the new plan for the porch. (where door openings are positioned are important). 2 love seats are not functional. They are not facing the tv and adults that are not a couple don't like sitting in them. The best arrangement is always a sofa and 2 chairs. Having said that, if, for some reason you love having a chaise, then the argument could be made for that. I recommend a removable chaise for future flexibility. If you really don't have guests or it is seldom, you could use only the sofa in the room and bring in extra chairs for when guests visit....See MoreIs this desk too small for this room?
Comments (11)The desk looks to not be very comfortable to sit at that computer for very long. Maybe adding a more comfortable chair would fill out the room and would certainly be more comfortable. It looks like a place that you might sit to use the computer only if you had to. It does not look invitingly comfortable, at all. It looks nice, but not a place you want to linger. Maybe up the comfort factor. That poor potted plant in the corner looks like a prisoner in a dungeon waiting to die. Being that it looks brown and ragged, I suspect that it is a real living thing, but probably not for very long. A rug is nice but it will not add inviting comfort. I, for one, love the sparse and spare and uncluttered room, but this one lacks comfort. Pretty little room, though....See Morepowermuffin
