You could take a sham in to SW or BenMoore and ask them to match it, then ask them which paint color the resulting formula is closest to. I think you would have a gorgeous, relaxing bedroom with paint closely matched to the comforter fabric.

I don't dislike the wall color per se, but it does read a bit yellow compared to the bedding.

I am not sure that I would try to "match" the blue-green exactly: the blue-green of the bedding is within the context of a pattern and also has a fabric sheen to it.

If you are able to match it exactly two things could potentially happen. One is that the room could look a little "dead" because there is not enough depth of related colors. The other is that it could still look "off", but a near miss. Colors within pattern do not read the same way as flat expanses of a single color.

I would aim for something that is lighter or darker and maybe a bit warmer or cooler. Something that plays with it well, but is distinct enough to vary from the bedding.

It seems too yellow and not creamy enough. I'd go with a more off white color.

Thanks for the ideas. I just haven't hit on the right color yet. I think part of the problem may also be the pictures above the bed. I amy move them to a khaki and navy guest room and look for some more for our bedroom.

I like the light cream of the first pics but the more yellow latter picture looks too strong. With a creamy version like the first pics (very pretty with your linens), I think you need to work on what Pal mentioned -- varying values, or lightness/darkness, for more depth and interest. Maybe with the curtains, you could do a band or trim on the inside edges. Maybe a small darker pillow on the bed. An accent color or two would also help break things up a bit.

I think if you painted the walls a darker version of the bedding and then introduced some brown and cream into the mix with some pillows and a throw it would look lovely. I know a lot of people don't care for painting their ceilings, but if you added some of the darker aqua to white ceiling paint, just enough to tint it a tad, it would blend and reflect the light better also.

I cant give you a specific color name but I would take the blue from the bedding and do a mid tone on the wall. The blue would definately go well with your mahogney bed and the bed would pop against the wall. I dont care for the two pictures you have above the bed, too brown. You have a beautiful bed.

Thanks, Roseabbey. I don't care for the pictures, either, but I am at a loss as to what to put there. I just can't seem to get this room to come together. I've never had so much trouble with a room before! It's rather frustrating because I want it to be a calm, serene retreat from the outside world. I love the bedding but can't seem to build the room around it.

The bedding is beautiful. Do you have any fabric, towels or other pillows in a deeper blue color? Try placing that on the bed & see how it works.

I don't know if your into monograms but that might be nice above your bed instead of the pics. I would also remove the vases by the tv and get some crusty chunky candle sticks, maybe a pretty crystal tray for pocket change, watches, etc. A small slipper chair in creme would be pretty in the corner with one of your bed pillows on it (neckroll)~ add a floor lamp next to it.

It will all come together - you've got a great start!

The beautiful bedding has a traditional feel, and the pictures above the bed look casual/modern. I think changing them out will do wonders for the room.

The paint colour blends with everything in the room - the wood furniture, the background colour of the bedding, artwork. I think you might be wanting something that contrasts. The pale blue would do that nicely. Nothing wrong with a color that blends, but personally I prefer contrast.

I don't think there is anything wrong with your wall color now but I think a pretty blue-green would look nice, too.

Everything is very pretty. I agree that the wall color is too yellow though. I would try to match the curtains and use a light cream color. Though, the blue might be nice too.

I love your bedding. The walls do appear yellowish on my
monitor. I agree with taking the bedding to a Paint store
to either match the blue/green or ivory so you really have
a perfect match.

In my opinion I think you would not be happy with the
Ivory cream for your walls. The ivory cream on the blue
green bedding makes the blue appear more green. Painting
the room ivory is giving your bedding a fight with color.
Which way does it go, blue? Green?

You will find the room more soothing and relaxing with a
closer match to the blue/green color even light enough to
appear white at first. Your bedding, furniture, picture
frames and details even in the drapes will really show off
with a blue/green paint color. Just my instinct.

wow, squirrel--that's a gorgeous dress. Just dreamy. I would drastically have preferred it to the one she wore for the inauguration.

pumpkin spice, I cannot find the can of paint and I am not sure of the color. I will get DH to check the attic later. I took one of the pillows and they matched the darker of the two "cream" colors in the bedding.

I have a large swatch of Gentle Tide on the wall and like it. The trouble is that at certain times of the day, the bedding appears blue and at other times, it appears a green color. I truly love the bedding but, boy, it's tough to decorate around.

I have my eye on several pieces of artwork on ebay and DH and I are going to a Starving Artists Art Show tomorrow. Maybe I will find something there that is just the right piece.

I am even considering wainscotting in the bedroom. I think it would help give the relaxing feel I am looking for with white wainscotting and a color like gentle tide, pallladian blue, riviera azure, ballroom blue, etc. on the top.

I definitely am going to put up crown molding in the bedroom.

As for painting the ceiling, we have a textured ceiling. I have never seen one painted before and to be honest, am a little leery of it. If it doesn't bode well, DH will die! He firmly believes in only white ceilings, lol.
