Michoumonster - the sink cabinet is 33" wide (same as the sink). The bump out is about 3", but I have to caution you - everything they say about installing the apron front sink is true. My cabinet guy worked closely with the installer and had to make an insert that goes under the sink (forgive my lack of proper terminology here)after the sink went in, and some filler pieces for in between the dishwasher and the sink cabinet. I just realized looking through the pics that the dishwasher door was slightly adjar when I took the picture :). Unless you are working with a custom cabinet person who is flexible, I can see how this can easily turn into a nightmare. I also had Sonoran send sink specs to the cabinet maker ahead of time.

Another comment for all of you considering a farmhouse sink has to do with the installation of the counters. I purposely wanted the top of my sink flush with the countertop rather than the countertop overhanging the sink, and that resulted in some problems, like the faucets being a little too far back. The sink rim is about 2" wide, resulting in even the biggest faucets being set back from the sink. The soap dispenser occasionally drips soap right on the rim of the sink, "aging" it before I get the chance to. I still love the look, but probably would consider doing it differently next time. Which brings me to

Andi_K's question - the faucets are Annapolis by Waterstone, which I believe is a CA company and I got them at QualityBath.com. They have an absolutely gorgeous one called Annapolis Gantry that first caught my eye, but the diverter sprayer it is way too high to fit under the cabinet, so I had to "compromise" and get something lower. They are awesome! and come in many finishes, so definitely take a look at the line. Mine are in Tuscan Brass.

Scootermom - the kitchen is roughly 11' sink wall by 13' range wall, including the isle. The fridge wall in in an 8' niche that is 24" deep across the isle from the island and opposite the sink. So the whole room is about 11 x 16 (ish). It looks and feels much bigger than it is, since it's open to the family room. Here is the before pic - the fridge in where the range and wall ovens used to be and the wall with the window cutout on the left side is gone. The before was a decent kitchen, except the the appliances all decided to die at the same time and it felt cramped due to the long narrow island. I kept the same footprint but re-oriented the kitchen towards the family room, and oh boy, what a difference! It feels huge now. It's like an entirely different house.

Here is another view: what you see was pretty much all the counter space I had to work with. Now, I have at least double the counter space.

How did Travertine Mart work out? We are looking at them for tumbled travertine for outdoors...samples/pricing seemed great...what color did you get?

Dianalo and Boylanite2 - the stove is my pride and joy. This is what started the whole reno, although for a long time the Blue Star was the forerunner. Of course the hood had to follow. I have to say, I went through so many versions of tiles and marble, and backsplash patterns, and of course, I have been influenced by the white subway tile versions, until I realized that mine was not a white subway tile kitchen, no matter how much I may like the subway tile look, and then I just stumbled upon this tile at some closeout place and it turned out perfect.

Andi - Travertine Mart was great to work with. Their pricing, with delivery, was so much lower than anyone local that it took everyone out of the running, and the quality is great. I have looked at lesser tiles locally that cost at least 4 times as much, and that's after you add their shipping costs. I would recommend getting liftgate delivery from them, as it's a minimal surcharge and the truck comes with a forklift to unload everything. This stuff is HEAVY and the pavers are almost twice as thick as my tiles. My tile color is country classic, which is a mix of ivory, noche and what they call blue, which is really a version of gray, in the brushed and chiseled version. It needed to be filled unlike the outdoor pavers. If you use an enhancing sealer, the color comes out brighter and the variation is more noticeable, but I wanted the floor to be the backdrop, so we just used a regular sealer that does not enhance the color. I would highly recommend them shipping costs notwithstanding. I'm already toying with the idea of using the pavers outside, although, budget constraints aside, it may be too cold here in the winter for travertine.

My favorite item is the faucet. I've bookmarked the same faucet for our new home (a couple of years away yet) and love seeing it in a kitchen.

Wow - what a transformation in the space. I especially like all the little touches that you did, the open corner cabinets, the recessed wall behind the stove, the legs on the sink cabinets, the blue island, all little things that make your kitchen so special. The sink is really cool with the decorative face.

I commented on your wonderful kitchen on your thread in Appliances, but had to say once again how much I love the hood, the CC, and the tile.

It's funny that a number of you mentioned the open cabinet in the corner. Some of my not TKO friends have mentioned that it looks empty without the doors and I need to put them up.

I actually have the doors for it, but on a whim, I had asked the cabinet maker to finish the inside of that cabinet, just in case, before the kitchen was done. My original thinking was that I wanted to break up the monotony of the run of doors, but it actually ended up that things are easier to reach up there without the doors getting in the way, and I too think it looks better. So thank you for reaffirming that.
