Have you tried a plastic picture frame hanging tool?

These are the plastic ones where you hang the artwork (up to a certain size, of course) on the back, hold it up to the wall, press a button and a little dent is made in the wall so you know exactly where to put the nail?

"Hang & Level" is one of the names; there are some others out there.

On my to-do list is putting up 4 11x14s on the wall, all horizontally aligned, and I'm really bad at doing that. I've tried the brown paper template method, which sometimes works for me. The problem with these frames is that the sawtooth hangers on the back aren't aligned themselves, they're all slightly "off" from each other. (The picture frames are kind of strange--visualize a hardboard back, with a sawtooth hanger on it, then an acrylic on the front, held in place by teeny tiny round magnets in the corners.)

Any advice for hanging these without a dozen nail "misses" hiding in the back?

I have a 50% off coupon from the crafts store where I saw one of these hanging tools, so I might just try it...
