In my finished basement, the rooms have doors that compliment the room they open into. They are not all the same, and they don't all match the baseboards. The bathroom door has cream paint on one side, deep Americana Red on the bathroom side. Looks quite nice.

All the doors in each room are painted one color on the sides that face the room.

I think it would look great. Check out the link below- picture # 1 has a door with white trim and the stiles are painted white but the panels are painted a pretty blue grey.

I think if you are doing it as an intentional look it could be great.

I recently did something similar in my dining room where I have 3 doors, although I painted the doors a darker shade of the wall color. I love it. All those white doors broke up the room too much; looks much more cohesive now.

I think it will look good. I painted the doors in my dining room a darker shade of the wall color, while the doors in my bedroom are painted to contrast with the walls. I think both look good, and the colors you describe sound nice to me.

Pal, what difference does it make if it's "intentional" or not?

We did all of the public area of the house in white beadboard and trim. It goes down the hallway also, then stops at the bedrooms and main bath.

Those doors (and inside trim/wainscot, are a dark stain, the original color.

I was going to do them white, but I got so sick and tired of the paint fumes I said we'd do it at another time.

But now I love the look and am so glad I didn't paint the doors white. And it wasn't intentional.

Forgot to add, our new front door is mahogany with the mahogany trim around it, on inside and out. Now that was intentional but it matches the doors in the back of the house. But it doesn't look "intentional." That word throws me. lol
