I would use the very left top one as it picks up the blue in the rug and wall and keeps a nice balance with warm and cool colors. It's less likely to show up the fur flying and it's a nice muted blue.

I also found myself drawn to the blues. However, I don't know how the lighter blues look with the bright blue of your painting so I checked out sapphire and thought it might relate well to both your painting and your rug.

I really like that Bayleaf and even before I saw that was one of your choices I picked it out : ) It doesn't really look like you can go wrong, those are muted and friendly colors all in all but believe me I do understand obsessing over choosing things that are expensive and not easily changed. I think I'd also go with the Saphhire. Remember that the sheen lightens it considerably; a darker color won't ever be too dark. For what it's worth, I have a few items done in a green mohair very much like your Bayleaf, here's an ottoman:

OMG! Blue! Never thought of that! I am stunned. Seriously, I completely ignored the blues because I do not have one blue item in my entire home. Well, okay, DS's room is blue but that's it. Now you have me thinking. But I also wonder if this one random blue item will either (1) look really out of place and/or (2) force me to then add other blues in the room and eventually, redecorate my entire house.

Going back to look at blues.

Blue.

The reason blue would work well is because it picks up the blue in the painting and the carpet. As a single chair, it will be an accent color. It does not mean add more blue unless it is so subtle you think you don't have a single blue item in your home, which of course you do, as accents already.

I've ordered a navy velvet wing chair so of course I vote or dark blue- the sapphire or the lapis. Your other choices are nice too- cant really go wrong with that color palette.

well i'll be the voice of dissent here.
i wouldn't buy it in blue unless you are sure you'll always have blue for it to compliment or you are willing to reupholster someday.
a chair that nice in my home would def be a very neutral colour so it can adapt as my rooms change.

If you feel the blue is too limiting, go with root beer or bay leaf. Both are nice colors. After all, you are standing in the room and can see all of the sight lines while we are only viewing the room from one angle and in one type of light. Good luck with a tough, but fun decision.

It is always so interesting to get everyone's opinions, and I mean that very sincerely. Fallingwaters, there is a whole other section of neutrals that I completely ignored because I have a thing about chairs NOT being neutral. I know, it's weird. Neutral sofa, yes, but in my house, an upholstered chair has to be a Color. But I totally get your point.

Now that I've been looking at Sapphire, the Bayleaf seems so... boring.

That color in the upper right corner of the top card would bring out those rusty tones in the painting, and I just love the color in general, but it SO does not work with my rug. I wish I needed a new rug...

I'm a big fan of the Sapphire. I think it will look sharp in your room!

I'm curious to know how the mohair does with animal fur too.

The root beer, which I assume is the second color next to the blue, top row, would also work well if you don't want to go blue. You see all angles and we only have a tiny slice of your perspective so take everything here with a grain of salt.
The root beer chair with a blue striped throw (that also has a little stripe of root beer)thrown over it, for instance, might look great.
I would not, however, based on what I see, introduce green into the picture.

After seeing the mockup I am now reconsidering and leaning toward the blue hmmmmm.. What a cool tool.

kellyeng, I don't know how you do that, but it is very cool! and helpful! I like the darker green on the bottom, but unfortunately none of the samples looks like that particular color IRL. And... I have SO much of that color throughout my first floor. It would be a no-brainer but then it would also be, like, just another chair. But the Sapphire would be more of a standout. IRL the Sapphire seems just a little more vibrant than what's shown in your pic, which is just what I'd want in a blue. As I look around my first floor, too, I notice that I do have that particular blue in several pieces of artwork. My next goal will be to maybe find a pillow for the sofa that has the blue as well as my other colors. I have plenty of time -- I think the chair takes 12 weeks to come in!

Re. pet hair:

The good thing is that my cats love the mohair. This means, for some reason, that they do not scratch it. The arms of the same sofa that was formerly ripped to shreds have been completely untouched for almost a year now since recovering in mohair velvet. Does the natural wool remind them of Mom? Who knows.

The bad thing is that my cats love the mohair. The mohair chairs and sofa are their sleeping spots of preference. Alas, unless you match the color of Pookie exactly, you will have noticeable hair collecting on it, like with any napped fabric. Mohair is very durable and easy to brush, though, so it's no worse than any other velvet.
