Suero, it's mohair. For some reason, I have wanted a mohair chair ever since I sat on a mohair sofa YEARS ago in a fancy restaurant lounge area. I just love the texture.

That blue chair is gorgeous and it brings out the blue in the carpet and carries it through to the painting so well. Stunning.

(We also have a bright blue chair just because I loved the colour. I like how it perks up the sitting area which is a similar set-up to yours being just off the kitchen.)

That is really gorgeous! The color is perfect. By any chance did you try placing it where the rocker is? Just wondering how it would look if it were able to be seen from more sides--I mean that blue is so yummy it's a shame to have it tucked over there. Also, it might help move the blue further out into the room from the painting. Hey, it's just a thought, it looks great where it is. But I really would want to see more of it if it were me.

And what a nice dh you have. He has been trained well on make up presents. I am experiencing a re-bloom on an old orchid right now. They are so beautiful! They look so hard to care for but really, it's so easy!

It is perfection!

Bee, I just knew someone would say that! There are a few reasons why the chair is where it is. One is that my slobbery dogs' bowls are in the mud room, sort of right behind where the rocking chair is. Our oldest dog likes to come in from the water bowl and rub her face alongside of the closest chair. With the rocking chair there, we have broken her of that habit, but I would go crazy if I found her rubbing her face all over the new chair! Also, this is "my" chair and it feels more cozy to me near the wall vs. out in the middle of the room.

Tuesday, thank you! We spend a lot of time in this room -- homework, eating, entertaining, etc. The rug is a Nourmak flat weave rug. I'm pretty sure I got it at Decora Rug online. It coordinates with a similar rug in my living room (similar colors, different pattern). These rugs have been through a lot over the years with dogs and kids, and they wear like iron.

Thanks for including pictures of the whole room. It's nice to see the chair in context. I was going to suggest exactly what Beekeeperswife did about exchanging the position of the blue chair and the rocker to achieve better color balance in the room, but I understand the need to keep the dog from wiping her face on it. LOL! I often wonder how some of our pets develop certain habits.

Our dog does the same thing! My leather sofa is her napkin. Ugh. Luckily she's little and I can wipe up what I find easily.

cindyloo, thanks for bringing that up -- somewhere near the bottom of my to-do list is finding some fab fabric for that chair cushion. That beige leather is so drab. I had it covered years ago with a fabric that worked for the room it was in, then it was in DS's room for a while, then back down here. Now that I have my new chair, I may be inspired to move that "job" closer to the top of my list!

In a what seems like a world of neutrals, it's so nice to see color! Love it.

Thanks for the extra pictures SueB20. I was going to mention the same thing BeeKeepersWife did. I completely understand your reasoning. If you can find matching blue fabric I'd make a lumbar pillow to match the new chair color and leave the rocker cushion as is.

Ooooh! I've been watching for your new chair. I love love love it. I was going to suggest switching it with the mission rocker too, but I totally understand the dog-slime thing.
