The safe bet is white subway tile - but would it be to many conflicting "patters" with the beadboard. I also like the idea of doing a herringbone pattern with them...

We have carrera counters and used the same carrera as a full height backsplash behind the sink and the stove. We like it a lot.

Sounds like everything in your kitchen is matte to low sheen. Do you want to keep that soft, muted feel everywhere, or would this be one place to add some sparkle with a glossy tile (ceramic or glass) or even stainless -- which would be brushed and a softer sheen. The one thing about tile is that your beadboard means you already have a lot of lines. You will need to balance that without becoming overpowering.

htracey-- No pix at the moment, cuz I'm in the process of trying to move everything back in. So heaps of boxes and junk. A lot slower than packing up! But I'm taking my time....a lot of stuff needs to be rewashed, I'm weeding out some stuff as I go to donate to a church rummage sale, and I'm rethinking a few destinations.

It's a look you see in a lot of High Modern kitchens. Ours is not High Modern...It is what you'd call a white kitchen. Transitional maybe in style. We kept the original cabs -- face frames with partially inset plain doors. Our other walls are painted, with a painted white 2" wood back splash.

Since the beadboard is vertical, I would pick a marble mosaic or glass mosaic and run it vertically, for example:

I also love the idea of using a slab of the same countertop material as the backsplash. It looks elegant and is easier to clean than a tile due to not having a ton of grout lines!

I have a question..Boxerpups..when you post pictures of some amazing backsplashes that may go with some members kitchens, where can we find out what the name of the tile is and the company who makes it. Some are labeled some are not. Is there a way we can research it ourselves? You go to great lengths to do this and don't want to bug you any further! Thank you!

I love the trelis back splashes that you posted. I have the same question as the above poster - any ideas where they came from?
