A) Longer Kitchen/6' Island or B) Shorter Kitchen/5' Island + Closets?
Comments (11)If you will be bringing groceries in through the garage entry, I would seriously consider making both the laundry, and the closets in the hallway, shallower, then making up for the lost storage by adding the closets on the kitchen wall in the second plan. Carrying groceries, laundry baskets, or anything else, down that hallway will be more comfortable with a little more elbow room. If you need the depth for the laundry, it could be recessed slightly into the bedroom behind, then bookcases could fill out the remainder of the wall:ETA, for the sake of safety, I'd rather see the fridge and ovens switched, so that there is landing space for the ovens on the left counter, and the oven is in less of a traffic aisle. That means the island would be more of a barrier between the fridge and sink, so I agree with placing a prep sink on the island, but I'd put it on the corner, to allow as much prep space as possible....See MoreWhat size islands over my 9'x3' kitchen island?
Comments (5)It is slightly off centered, but mirrors the oven on the back wall of the kitchen. This shot might be more helpful. I will attach links to the pendants I had in mind! Thank you for your help!...See MoreYes or no to kitchen island prep sink? New kitchen layout help please
Comments (4)Unfortunately your original layout is more functional than the proposed. How about putting the table in the former kitchen space? Then I’d make a built in hutch in that area bumped into the powder room. Can you move the door to the sunroom to the mudroom? Then you can get some decent wall space in the former dining room for a new kitchen....See MoreKitchen Island Island Pendants - Recommendation
Comments (16)Hi Kendrah, Thanks! I want something a little less “diner-esque.” It feels either that or clinical, especially in addition to the amount of stainless already in the kitchen. I do plan/hope to redo the kitchen but instead of a full remodel, I think I’ll be more likely to piecemeal it for now by changing the vent and cooktop, the undermount sink and maybe the backsplash for now. It’s the most poorly done tile backsplash I’ve ever seen and it goes to the ceiling. 🤦🏻♀️ In 5-7 years when I feel justified in changing all of the floors (the house is only two years old so I feel wasteful doing if right now), I may do a full remodel with new cabinetry and new countertops, but hope to reuse the cooktop and range come that time. I do plan to get new counter seating. I don’t like these much either but I bought them off of the first owner for a bargain because i didn’t feel like spending money on new counter stools (and six of them with spare for one more!!) until I knew what look/feel I’d be going for in the kitchen....See Morelisa_a
