So long as you don't really own anything ( and don't buy in bulk quantity at Costco) you can dispense with closets otherwise I would pick B.

I'm a little confused about why you would have these undercounter refrigerators facing the back wall where the cook has to be rather than facing into the great room or at least on the sides of the where people who want the beverages are less likely to be in the cook's area.

I'd also consider putting a pass-through window from the kitchen to the backyard rather than the door. The door will encourage traffic right across where you're planning on putting the stools for the island.

Do you have finished plans for the kitchen yet? There's something about it as posted that just doesn't seem right and I can't quite put my finger on it

Below is the first draft design for the longer kitchen with 6' Island. Would need to be adjusted for smaller island if I go with the closets.

I thought the door would be good to allow for exit to a deck / grill, etc. instead of having to walk through the Great Room.

Note in the pics that the wolf hood vent is 10" so it can't be hidden in the walls. Hence the design has a soffit...which I don't really like. Thinking it might look better just running the chimney up to Ceiling...thoughts?

We will have 10' ceilings with crown molding.

If that is a long closet near the laundry and stairs in the drawing, then I think I would go with the bigger kitchen and island. I'm not sure I understand how the great room is bigger in option 2, though.

Yes, the soffit only above the rangetop is a little weird. I would consider a different hood if that is the only way you can get that one to work. I'd want it to go to the ceiling.

I think having the door in the kitchen would be nice to avoid going in the great room to go outside.

I also think having the small refrigerators would bug me during those times when I have people over. People would be going to use them and getting in my way when I was cooking behind the island. I agree with @pratigal on that point.

Because in Option B, I bumped the Great Room to keep the Fireplace centered with Island, etc.

I'd do the larger island as well. I'd consider a prep sink in it since otherwise you have to walk through the cooking aisle to get to the sink from the fridge. It's not a great cooking triangle. I'm not sure how wide the aisles are either. I agree the beverage fridges facing the stove are weird - maybe point them towards the sides of the island to make them more accessible? Also not quite clear why you would need 2 extra fridges when there are just two of you in the house - I'd much rather grab beverages from the main fridge rather than down low. For the hood I don't see any reason for the soffit instead of taking the chimney up to the ceiling - most hoods come with extra pieces to extend or you may need to have a new one fabricated which shouldn't cost too much.

If you will be bringing groceries in through the garage entry, I would
seriously consider making both the laundry, and the closets in the
hallway, shallower, then making up for the lost storage by adding the
closets on the kitchen wall in the second plan. Carrying groceries,
laundry baskets, or anything else, down that hallway will be more
comfortable with a little more elbow room. If you need the depth for the
laundry, it could be recessed slightly into the bedroom behind, then
bookcases could fill out the remainder of the wall:

Thanks all! I decided to go with the longer Island. I really would like to have space for at least three stools at the island.

Also, per the recommendation, I am going to move the smaller refrigerators to the ends of the Island! :)

Getting rid of the soffit and will either run the chimney up to the ceiling or change the chimney to a different type.

Will work with cabinet designer to add a pantry cabinet?

Good question! Since I am leaving ~42" for side aisles, probably not. Although, I think you could make the argument that any side could present an issue. The question is which is the most practical? ;)
