i love, love, love the tropical green. Oh, but i am passionate about green. if it made you go 'Oooooooo', then go with your gut instinct. if it floats your boat, then thats the one. i know that i started out with one vision(sort of), and just kind of rode the waves along the way. in the end, i ended up loving everything that i chose, or just about everything. thats another story though, never order just from a photo in a magazine or photo. see it if you can in person. that got a bit off topic.

anyway, that green is very rich and warm looking with your cabinet sample. but, i think that green granite would look great with anything!

the cafe ouru just looks kind of gray and dull to me. my second choice would be the white. i'm not sure about the paint color though, for any of the granite really, but thats along way down the road still for you. you might find something you like better by then.

I agree with teppy....the cafe ouru looks a little dull and plain. My first choice is the white and second choice is the tropical. But you can't go wrong with either of them!! They are both gorgeous with your colors.

I thought I would show a pic of my family room, since it really isn't changing other being opened to the kitchen. We are happy with the paint color and want to keep it (at least for now). :)

I like the Tropical Green - especially with all the veining. I think it has a richness to it that would bring out the color richness of your cherry cabinets. The white one is too cool for me and more of a contrast than a blend, if you know what I mean.

The tropical green looks great. The cafe looks fine, but, at least in the picture, the white persa looks sad. Not bad, really, just dreary. Your cabinet and wall colors are so warm, and the cool tone of this just kills them. If you want a lighter granite as an alternative, try something with a gold or beige undertone, rather than the gray. The gray veins are great. It's the gray undertone to the white that looks sad.

If I remember right, the windows are a distance from the countertops in your kitchen. Going with something polished and/or light will help brighten up the space. Have you thought about putting in a light gray soapstone and leaving it unoiled? The tropical green also reads lighter than it really is, and has the polish. If what thrills your heart, however, is deep, inky, oiled black soapstone, go for it!! Just put in a whole lot of lighting (there are some wonderful, low energy options nowadays).

I see what you mean about the paint chip being lighter than the wall color. I Love, Love, Love, that wall color!! Does the granite place have a sample of the Tropical Green that is close enough to the slab you like to take it home and put it with the wall color? And I agree with what the other posters have said - If tropical green makes you go "oooooooooooo," that's the one.

I like the white, though the green is nice too. I think part of my issue with the green is that it's a little hard to see because of the glare in the photo. On the other hand, if the green made you go ooooh! then I'd say go with that. I like the movement in both of them, but I do think the white would help brighten up the room more. On the other hand, since it will be shiny (I'm assuming), the green would reflect enough light to lighten up the room too. Gee, I'm a lot of help, lol!

I really like the lighter countertop because I love contrast. The bits of tan/brown/gold (whatever it is) in the granite will pick up the color of you cabinets. However, when I scrolled down and saw a pic of your family room I think the cafe ouru would look better. I like the tropical green but I see lots of black/dark furniture and accessories and think that the cafe ouru would better flow with the colors you have. The tropical green would just be introducing another color into your mix and I think you have enough great colors going on. Just my opinion from what I can see on a computer screen, but you should really go with your gut. Mabey the tropical green looks like a better fit in person. Hope I didn't confuse you.

I like the light because basically I always prefer light countertops so I'm biased. Wild veiny soapstone makes me stop and go "AHHHHHH"; but otherwise my eye always goes toward lighter counters because for me, they brighten a room. I agree with plllog that this particular white one is kind of a cool white (not that that's a bad thing), but something to consider if it goes against what you want.

Tropical Green has my vote.
There are some browns and beiges in this slab that really
go well with the rest of your home.

Sorry, but the Tropical Green would be my last choice among those three. I think it's a pretty stone, but I think there's not enough contrast with your cabinets. Of those three, I'd prefer the White Persa and then the Cafe Ouru. I do think soapstone would be gorgeous, but I'm a bit biased in that department.

Don't care for the Tropical Green at all. Love the White Persa ... it's just gorgeous and I love the creamy and black tones with your cabinet door. What color will your appliances and floor be?

As far as going with your gut, my feeling is that when you see the stone for you, you'll know it. So maybe none of these three are the one for you?

The green is probably the most predictable and safest choice with the cherry cabinets and orange walls. Personally, I like it the least however.

Of the stones, I like the Cafe and the White a lot more. The Cafe is gorgeous - but it may make for a very dark room. The White Persa is lovely - by itself as well as with the cabinets.

I agree that the white is a cool stone, inspite of the warm cream splotches on it. However, I'm of the school of thought that bringing in a controlled element of cool in a warm space or an element of warm in an otherwise cool space is a good thing. It is a surprisingly minority opinion on the GW, but frankly, I think it makes a better proportioned and moderated space. So in your space, I'd vote for the White Persa and the Cafe Oahu before the Tropical Green.

The White Persia is gorgeous and would be my first choice. Shoot, I'd redecorate an entire house based around a beautiful stone! But based on your preferences for the soapstone look, the Tropical Green would be a good choice. It works with all you have going on already.

The Cafe Ouru is too quiet for me. But that could just be how it photographs.

I don't really have an opinion on the granite, but just wanted to say that I don't think I'd pick a granite solely around an existing paint color. It doesn't seem like that's what you're doing, but I personally wouldn't make it an overriding factor. I know you want to keep the color for now, but down the road you might want to change it. It's so easy to change paint....not so easy to change a counter. Good luck!

I like the soft movement of the tropical green but the colors of the persa. I think your instinct to go light is on the right track; I would keep looking.

Maybe if you could find a backsplash tile you love (and I would go with a light one), you could focus on finding a coordinating granite. In my case, I picked the BS first, and the granite guy told me what he thought would look nice with it. It was not a granite I was drawn to at all on the first pass. We went around the granite yard with my door and the tile sample, and it was clear that this "wallflower" granite was the one. I loved it once it was installed. I'm not saying you should get something you hate, just that having one more element decided on (the backsplash) might give you some guidance-- and lead you to an unexpected choice.

The white persa is gorgeous. I love the patterning and color. I tend to like that rather than movement. It would be my first choice. I don't care for either the cafe ouru or the tropical green but that's just me. I know how hard it is to pick granite. I went to the stone yard yesterday and nothing jumped out. Maybe you can't decide because you have not seen "the one" yet and you need to keep looking. morton5 has a point, though. Good luck!

Warm whites are so hard to find around here. I found a Colonial Cream which I really liked, but it was only 2cm. Everything else seemed too gray. I still want a cream backsplash. I'm thinking small subways with an accent area over the sink (I don't have a window) in a herringbone pattern. That will go with anything...unless there is too much going on in the granite.
I will have stainless appliances. Have not picked out my tile floor yet (but I need to ASAP!). All I know is I don't want light.

I think you should go with the soapstone. It's what you love, and of all the granites you picked, the one you like the best is the one most reminiscent of the soapstone.

Wow, not to get off subject; but I love your family room paint scheme. I just did mine and it looks a lot like yours. My french doors need refinishing and now that I see yours I also love the white. my kitchen is also open to family room and behind me.
