Pics of pillow options A, B or C (Or, none of the above!)

We've been so busy acting as GC's for our masterbath renovation, that our family room makeover has stalled. We've just done the paint, carpet, new sofa, two leather tilt-back swivel chairs and a cocktail and side table from Pottery Barn's Rhys Collection.

I'm currently looking for a round accent table to go between the sofa and one of the leather chairs. Once that is chosen, I'll be shopping for a lamp.

(Any suggestions on a round table and/or lamp would be awesome! I'd welcome input as to style, finish, etc. for each.)

I'm premature in accessorizing the room but I have back problems and have found that the leather chairs are most comfortable with a bolster pillow. I've run across a few options I'd love to get some opinions on.

The floor lamp in the picture is definitely on the way out once I find a lamp for my side table. I presume this should compliment but not match the lamp on the round table(?)

I don't speak French but what I was able to read of the script on the pillow pertains to living a good life, friendship, etc.(!)

Another option that I was considering, was ordering some of the flowered fabric from Henredon and having some bolsters made or would that be too much of the same thing?

I think you need something besides shades of brown in that room.....and a bolster pillow might be a good place to start.

I'm not sure any of them work for me. A is too similar to the throw. B is probably the best option, but it sort of blends in with all the other neutral tones in the room. I'd love to see some color - maybe a yellow or pale blue -- for contrast. I'd keep looking.

PM2, your garden is so neat and tidy and welcoming! Geez, everyone here is not only more organized on paper than I am, but neater and more organized in the garden! I keep telling myself that since I'm not selling at the market this year I'll have more time to focus on aesthetics. My veggies garden is also growing shadier by the year. Again, because of not selling this year, I should have some more sunny areas to give over to veggies, but I am a flower gardener at heart, so we'll see how that turns out! CMK, honestly, I never ever had a problem with vetch getting away from me. Yes, if I didn't turn it under by the right time, it did grow and really cover that particular bed, but it has never "taken over" the garden or even reseeded much. Every now and then I see a tiny vetch vine or seedling in a nearby bed, but a quick tug takes care of that - unless I want it in that bed and I leave it there on purpose. And that one vine never really does much, so its not really much help anyway. I've never added phosphorus, but I'm really bad at any kind of balancing - I keep meaning to get a soil test, but you can guess how that turned out! So I just keep adding my llama manure, compost, cover crops, and leaves. Campanula, sorry to hear about the horse manure problem. And I hear you and Cactus Joe about never seeming to make enough compost! I have been thinking of getting chickens, but one of my main concerns is that they will take away from the stuff now going into the compost bins, lol! Love the squirrel, PM2! Well, actually, I don't like squirrels (is there a gardener who really does?) but that photo is too funny. Looks like someone got caught with his hand (paw?) in the cookie jar, lol. Dee

I'm ducking here, but.....Because I love to rearrange furniture, and also love to see biggest, prettiest thing first, (and your bed is sooo pretty!)would the bed *go on the wall you see as you enter? Another random thought: I love shutters, but noticed in your inspiration pic how the sheers and full length panels brought the windows down to a better size. * re. different arrangement: If the bed were on the opposite wall, you could place ( is there room with the bed?) a narrow library table/vanity between the windows with a mirror, photos or art over. Your yellow chair might fit under it? I love the painting with its moody colors that go so well with your wall color, but can't see the fish pic with it. As for the chairs, I'd have only one comfy one unless the two could sit together, or yellow one under a vanity/table? I'd keep the fabrics soft and solid or tone on tone. Your room is very serene and a colored pattern would take away from this feel, IMO. Oh, almost forgot to vote! A. and the mirror...after you try the other arrangement:>):>).

It appears that 3 of the 4 Samoan seedlings sprouts are making some progress with new growth. Don't know why but the 4th one of them seems to be near death, almost completely browned out. :( I've read the strong sun/heat can crack the husk too much and cause the plant to have a reduced resistance to the environment. Maybe sunburn, overwatering, underwatering? Maybe 100% success rate is asking too much. If it dies, I think I'm going to replace it with a Satakentia liukiuensis rather than another coconut palm.

We have two conversations going on at the same time. Let's try to keep some order. Nancy Trainer, If the main floor of the ranch is 1,800 sq feet, then I agree with Tigerdunes that 4 tons is too large. The 3 ton size should be fine. Don't fall for the "if it is over sized it will run on the low stage most of the time" story. Your duct work may not be large enough to handle the 4 ton of air flow. Lisa, If the you do go ahead the American Standard condenser, then will you have a mismatched system? If the equipment is the communicating type, then how will the thermostat work? If you want to continue the discussion, then I suggest you start a new posting. I am happy to help as best I can once you have set it up.

Another vote for some bits of color in the room to make it friendly. Pillows are a great way to do that, as are lamps and art.

Also, if the couch can slide a bit to the right, I would move the end table now by the leather chair to the left side of the couch. I think the table is a bit tall and too close in color to the leather chair to really shine there. I would look for an interesting side table, perhaps a painted piece or a glass-topped iron piece for that spot.

I like the idea of a round table between the couch and other chair.

out of the 3 you show, i would choose c...

i would also see what it looked like to have the larger floral pillows on the coach on the ends and the more plain ones closer to center...

your fireplace looks like it's beautiful!!

If you're sticking to browns in the room, I vote for option C. The stripes look to be very close in color and tone to the leather of the chair, but, because they are dark & dramatic against a lighter background, you can see the pillow clearly from a distance. Also, the zebra pattern is bold enough to work with the bold fireplace stone. OTOH, I can't make out what color your walls are. They look beige, but are they pinkish or more yellow? Because the pillow's background color is sort of a maize I think?

However, I'm in agreement with the others who suggest adding some more color to the room. Without seeing the rest of the room or any adjoining rooms, it's difficult to suggest choices. Regardless, I'd go a little bold & dramatic, else you risk an over-pale color kind of blending in to the point of being invisible.

My first thought was it doesn't matter what it looks like -- your back's comfort is supreme! My second thought was "something in the clay family would be nice," and then I read pattycakes' response and ding ding ding! Terracotta would be pretty. Yes. But seriously -- most important is what makes your back feel better.
