Its only too much money if YOU think so. Items are only "worth" what someone is willing to pay for them. If it helps, I have what appears to be the identical end table (mine may or may not be larger) that I got at Macy's a few years ago. It was priced at $450 (but no, I didn't pay that much for it).

I don't think $100 is too much for that. I just paid $200 for an end table (new) that isn't half as nice. I wouldn't want to dust the mission table, but it's still a great table for your room.

That's a beautiful side table and I'd be willing to pay $100, but you can always ask if they'll accept less.

You mentioned you're not happy with the room. Here's my unsolicited advice :)
First, I really like the large unit you have against the wall! I think what the unit needs is everything removed and some taller decor on top, maybe a large decorative dish on a stand, a statue, or a collection of 2-3 vases. I'd hang the print/painting of the tree where the other painting is and I'd replace the lampshade with a black one. (see link below)

It could be my monitor, but it appears the wall color needs to be a warmer yellow/gold (maybe it's the wall color you're not liking?). What I'm seeing is too bright for the green in your sofa and the rug colors. Would like to hear if others see the same.

Thank you so much for the advice so far. I think $100 is pretty reasonable. The 2 pieces I have in this collection are of good quality and look new after almost 10 years. Thanks annz! I will try your ideas, it is certainly cheaper than replacing the unit. The color does not normally look so lemony - I think the flash on the camera makes it look a lot brighter, BUT I have been wanting to try something in here like SW Blonde, which seems to be what you are describing.

I think just filling some things out and grouping the accessories a bit differently makes a big difference. I think something like this looks great.

I love your armoire and would definitely keep it there; I would not clutter the top with different artifacts, just hang one of your pictures over it.

The table is BEAUTIFUL! How fortunate you are to see one in your area that is part of your set. I typically don't match my furniture, but in this case, it's so distinct and beautiful, I'd even think about the coffee, table, too! (If yuo need one) :-)

Maybe this appeals more to some people.

Try removing everything from the armoire & wall - I think one piece of art over the armoire as mitch d suggested - the scale of the one you have on the floor looks better suited then the one hanging on the right of armoire.

Anyway, the last pic is too plain for me. Some of us *do* like clutter, and find it warm and homey, so there's no DEFINITELY about it -- as if the op wouldn't know whether she liked something or not (and that is not really directed at you, personally, rjinga though it sounds it). I used what was available for the top of the armoire, which also seemed like they might be things she loves and wants to see around. If I'd tossed them out and gone shopping, someone would have snarked about that. Things aren't intended to be taken literally, unless the poster actually *likes whatever the details are (which is highly unlikely when we go shopping). They are conceptual ideas.

I'm done. Between the crass way people state their personal opinions around here, and the tiring covert-aggression of a certain member of this forum, the place just wreaks.

Squirrelheaven- what you do with your photoshopping skills is always amazing. I don't think people are criticizing you but are looking at the photos and reacting (which is the point of art). I, personally, liked the first photo you did. So, anyways, my point is- don't go. And I like your screen name.

And to the original question- I think a $100 is a fair price for the table and I think it will look great in your room. Hope you get it.

Thanks everybody! I feel so honored to have a Squirrel photoshop! I love the painting on top of the armoire - especially as in pictures 1 and 2. I'm supposed to call the woman at 1pm about the table. I really want to go get it today. I had an 8 mile training run for an upcoming 1/2 marathon and my 45 year old body is in shock right now! Hopefully I can get it together to go over there. Once I get the table - I'll show you the other side of the room. That is where my shame is...the most comfortable blue leather recliner on earth! Aesthetically, it throws off the room...but it's SO comfortable! Thanks again!

Squirrel, your pictures and photoshop skills are amazing. I love the way you're able to show people different options, and I've always been incredibly impressed. I know how long it takes to do such work, too; you have a gift and it is a gift to us that you use it here. Please don't go!

Mcps, you mention the desire to rearrange the furniture and that may be the solution. I don't think that moving the couch in front of the window would look right though. The sill is low and you would block the view.

Without other views of the room it is hard to come up with a solution but is it possible to move the couch so that it faces the EC? Then turn the rug. The rug looks too small the way it is placed now.

The table next to the couch is too tall to be used as an end table and could be moved to the right of the EC to help fill in the wall space. Use both paintings on the wall with the larger one to the right of the EC.

How about a stack of vintage luggage to the right of the ET to fill the wall space in with something more 'solid' without legs? That rocker is a "sewing rocker" so the seat is very low and an end table would not be the right height next to it. Put the photo on the luggage stack. Photos should always be displayed at eye level. That means eye level at either standing height or seated height. The photo is too high where it is now. Move the candles down too. A rule of thumb is to never display candles in anyplace where they would not be actually lit and used like the top of kitchen cabinets - it looks odd.

The bowl from the table can go on top of the EC with the other ceramic piece. The crystal should come off. Too much up there would make the whole EC look too bulky. Amoires don't need vignettes up there.

About the CL table.........I think it would make the room seem too 'matchy'. You have great pieces in there already and a soft blend of late 19th century style.

Well I got the table! It has some problems - but I cleaned it up and once I put the lamp, etc on it - it looks like my other 9 year old furniture from the same collection. I haven't made any other changes yet - but plan to do some re-arranging around the entertainment center before Thanksgiving. This is the blue chair that is too comfortable for me to part with. I would love to have 2 matching leather chairs on either side of this table - but it's not in the budget at the moment. I guess my style is as my Dad described his and my Mom's when I was growing up - Early Matrimonial. :-) Thanks for all your suggestions...and photo shops!

Just looking at the first pic you posted, I think the EC looks overpowering is simply because the clock and picture are too small. Use larger scale items around it and it won't seem overpowering. I love the table and I'm so glad you got it! This was your lucky day! I love mission style furniture (wish I had a few pieces!).

I like the simplicity of the 2 pics on either side in the mock up, but the top of the armoire is a little too busy. May I suggest placing a nice full plant like a fern on the top of the armoire and displaying your photos and glassware in another area of your home?

BTW...I LOVE that tree picture on the left of your armoire!

Thanks for your suggestions. I love the picture on the floor too! I ordered it over the internet and once it got here, it didn't seem to fit anywhere. Maybe I should put it to the right of the ent. center - put the paintng where the clock is and the clock where squirrel had it, behind the rocking chair. I'll play with it some. I like the idea of a fern - or just one large thing on top of the ent center. Thanks!
