Elle Decor Website - Is It Just Me???

Hey All...

Haven't been around here for a while... but I do lurk from time to time. Still the same quality info here. Keep it up everyone!

So, I got this email today about seeing the new Elle Decor Showhouse. I clicked on the link, and it takes me to their Home Page, with a small banner at the top, their masthead. But, the rest of the page is blank, and no matter what I click on at the top... still just blank. Even the Contact Us button, leads me to blankness. I know my computer is working fine, so... is it just me? Can everyone else see it? Are they not mac/firefox friendly? Any clues?

It's been like this for me too, for a long time, on either Mac/Safari or Dell/Firefox.

So, it's not just you.

It's loading fine for me, I tried Safari and Firefox on my mac.
It took longer to load on Safari .

KSWL, I agree with a lot of your observations. I think we both see it as a more traditional, classy room and some of the changes lean too trendy, or as you call it not appropriate. I was going to suggest using the lamps as the art on that wall and choosing carefully, either something traditional or transitional. But she is trying to "update" the bedroom by removing the large mirror. I have a dresser and large mirror in a guest BR and have thought of doing the same. I suggested moving the lamps to the dresser because they DID look buffet-ish to me. I wondered if it would look wrong in the bedroom, but now I think "Why not put them on a dresser?" Someone came up with the idea of putting tall lamps on a buffet and that style was adopted, but it doesn't really make a lot of functional sense. To me the engineering prints aren't bedroomy. Who are those people and what are they doing in my bedroom?? J/K, I know it's just an example. The question for me is how do you update traditional without getting trendy, especially when you're purchasing expensive items like lighting and art that you'd like to keep for at least 10 years.

Amy, I was also able to bring it up. But the same thing happens to me here on the "Gallery" side. It's been happening for a year now and I can't seem to fix it. If you find a trick, let me know. Good luck!

Update now that curtains are hung. I LOVE being able to have some natural light while maintaining some privacy. I couldn’t order that chandelier earlier because I was heading out of town, and then the price jumped. So I’ve got my eye on it and I’ll snag it as soon as the price goes down again. I also am looking for the right duvet cover. Had held off on ordering because I was going out of town, but yesterday I found this creamy one with arrows on it. Kind of cute. Will either go this route or a solid white. The grey paint is looking more and more drab. Someone made the suggestion that a crisper white will help make the other colors pop. Something to think about I guess.

Thanks Tartan- I was hoping you would see this. Yeah, the thing is for the offwhite it's in the reviews that people mention it is more of a gray than a cream... I can't tell. I know originally we felt that off-white was the way to go. The depth on this one, chatham is great (it' s the skinniest one of all the ones I considered). The reviews are outstanding- but the color scares me and the mahogany, looks good. Although my coffee table and end table are wood ( I think fruit wood). The size thing came up because I keep seeing suggestions that the console under the tv should be about 1/4 to 1/3 larger than the TV. The tv on that wall is not really centered on the wall- there is a light switch which I kind of didn't include in the wall. It was the outstanding decorators above, Flo and others who said I should go about 52-55 inches wide. Help me out, the TV is a 50 inch (diagonal) so the width is about 44 or 45 inches. !/3 larger would be 60 inches, 1/4 larger woudl be 55 inches. The Chatham is 52/53 inches. You see why I can't decide anything? I did use tape to see and I will post those pix here. This is 52 inches And here is 60 inches. Do I have the tv stand butting up to the window or leave room like I have done? FWIW, the kitchen is my other next project so while it adjoins the living room and all, who knows what color wood I will have there. (debating wood vs off white. that should take me maybe another year to decide lol). Originally a few said that I shouldn't go for more wood tones, so that keeps me back to the off white. What do you think? I will repost some of the pix of the room that are further upthread. This below is across from the TV wall. other wall with fireplace. So what TV stand belongs in my room that I will be happy with? How's your clairvoyance working??:)

What browser do you use? I use Mozilla Firefox and it won't open but it does (veryfreakingslowly though) with Internet Explorer.

Do you have Adobe Flash installed? It appears you need that to for the 360 view of the rooms.

And you know, it's the whole site for me, not just the showhouse. I do use firefox, hate internet explorer. The looking for/loading phase goes very quickly. I get the "done" message and it's just blank. Can't even write to them to say "wth is going on?". I do have adobe flash installed, but that shouldn't be necessary to see the contact page or the About Us page, or any of the other regular pages.
Alright... just loaded fine on safari. Can't even find my IE, guess I dumped it. Funny, the reason I switched to firefox years ago was that I was sick of going to so many sites that wouldn't acknowledge safari.
They must have done something that omits firefox. Now that I can get to the contact page, I'll shoot them a note about it.

Loads fine with Firefox for me. They spell "loading" as "loadging," though.

Well, they offer no way at all to contact them on tech issues. But, if some can see it on firefox, and some not... I don't know what the deal is. My mac is a 2010 model. Firefox up to date, same with adobe flash. Cookies enabled,java too. Oh well, guess it stays a mystery.
More weirdness... gw just rejected my first attempt at this note because it said it either contained a string that could be construed as profanity or content that could be dangerous. What? So I took the word "script" off of the end of "java", and it worked. Also... what's up with this "you have already responded" bit? Have they ever heard of a discussion taking place on a discussion board? I know how to get around it, but sheesh... years later and it still rejects multiple replies? How dumb.
I think the tech gremlins are after me! Time to leave the 21st century and go do yardwork!

I use Microsoft Windows Vista with Mozilla Firefox browser. I only saw the header when AdBlocker was active. When I deactivated it for that website, all was well.
