datura - As food for thought, you might also look at the Moen Showhouse line. In the remodel at our previous house, we looked at the Franke's and Rohl's and they were very nice and expensive. We went with the Rohl and it was indeed very good looking and very well made but the valve stops were not as clean as I would have expected given the price especially in the hand held sprayer (driped a bit sometimes). The hand held sprayer of the Rohl was very heavy...solid brass with a brushed nickel finish and quite impressive to hold. However, the only problem was that, when using very hot water, you had at the very most 20-30 seconds before the sprayer was too hot to hold without a hot mit. I never even considered that in my grand plan. Anyway, in our new house, we went with the Moen Showhouse Felicity line. I do not particularly like the fixtures with the pull out spouts so I was looking for a fixture that would accomodate large/tall pots and pans etc. The Showhouse Felicity is very tall with a very broad reach. It does have a composite hand held sprayer so its not as hefty as the more expensive Rohl but you can use it as long as you like without using a hot mit. The Showhouse is not cheap but a bit less than at least than the Rohl we used. By comparison, the Rohl (can't remember the model but it was similar to the Moen in style) was about $650 while the Moen was about $550. Also, if you want to improve the water flow and speed to fill your big pots, simply remove the water restrictor from any of the models and it will fill just as fast as most if not any pot filler.

I've got to say, your pictures aren't that helpful, because I can't tell where your niche is in comparison to your stove or rest of your kitchen. We're no experts, but I'll tell you how we decided. We too have a 48-inch range, and I ended up putting it 10 inches from the right side of the edge of the stove, and 18 inches above the counter level. We too were stumped about where to put it, so this is what we did. We pored pictures of kitchens that had pot fillers to try to calculate more or less where other people put theirs. Everyone said to measure your tallest pots. My tallest is about 11 inches, but it sits higher than that (from counter level) when it is on the range burner. I also noticed that a lot of people tended to put them at the height of the lowest part of their cabinets, which is 18 inches in most people's cases. It looks good to me at that height. While 18 sounds high, once you put the faucet in, the bottom most part of it is not that much higher than your biggest pot as it sits on the burners. I also didn' want it grazing my pots. And because this is a big stove, as is yours, then I wanted it to accomodate the biggest meal, biggest quantities we would ever prepare. Why else have a range and kitchen with these proportions? We both have big extended families and entertain a lot. As to where to locate it left or right, I decided that since our big main sink is to the left of the stove (on another wall) I wanted the pot filler to be more on the right side of the stove. We have a six burner Viking, with a 12-inch griddle more on the left side of the stove. It also made more sense to have the pot filler over the double row of burners, which are more to the right side of the stove. At 10 inches from the right, the pot filler is almost right between the two sets of burners on that side of the stove. Basically, you just have to see what looks right to your eye, and what would fit best with whatever backsplash/niche you will have. The height is what you most have to worry about, I think. Good luck deciding.

We have one. We bought a finished new construction house, and the builder put it in. We've lived in this house for 6 months now. Honestly, it's taken some getting used to - I was so accustomed to going to the sink for water. If you do alot of cooking, I think it's a neat gadget. I find myself using it more. The only thing is that I prefer filtered water (our town water taste of chlorine, IMO). We have an undercounter water filter, so if I'm boiling tea bags, etc., I tend to use the filtered water from the kitchen faucet. However, earlier this week I canned some tomatoes, and that pot filler was awesome. I put my big canner on the range and filled it up while doing a few other things around the kitchen. Our previous house had a pull-out faucet, so to fill the canner up, I'd put it on the counter top (b/c it's too big for the sink) and would pull the faucet over and fill it up, then have to lift it to the sink. The pot filler was much, much easier, although, I did still have to lift it when I was done to carry it over to the sink to pour out. Could I live without it? Absolutely, but for some tasks, it's really handy. It's more of a conversation piece than anything because alot of people (at least in our area) have never seen one. BTW, we have a Brizo one that does NOT have the swing joint (looks like all of their current models do). Having a joint would be handy, but I don't think not having is a big deal. We have a 5 burner Thermador cooktop under it, and if I have a big pot on the center burner, then it will swing over that just fine.

Mags483- Hmm, I don't know. That is my current set up but I am not sure I want to keep it. I like the idea of tile backsplash and the pot filler in the middle. That is what we had in a pervious house. Just not positive about ditching my SSBS. Part of me wants to try to see if I can find someone to cut a hole in the BS and see if I could center wall mount and still use the BS. But my builder isn't a "try it" type. He is a "this is the way Ive always done it" guy. The BS is viking so its very thick and it attaches to the range and not the wall so there will be space between the wall. Could a plumber come up with a solution... I bet they could but it's outside the lines... and so far I am not finding a bunch of people who are willing to "try" creative solutions. Ctycdm- Yes, I have considered that too. Beekeeperswife- I keep thinking of that as well. I see them in photos and part of me wants to try it but my fear is I am picky about counter clutter. I know its only one thing... Im a little funny this way. Anyone out there have a counter mount? Pictures? Thoughts about it? I feel like I am making 100's of decisions and even thought I am the type of person who knows what I like I am so afraid I am going to make a decision I dislike.
