Love that table. I don't have one but I love that one.

I have a round coffee table. I like it because of the configuration of my two sofas. If i did not have them in this L shape I'd have chosen a rectangular one.

Dixiechick, I remember something from a con ed decorating course i took once when DGMarie mentioned that. One design we had to do was to include a round table in the room and the idea was to soften the room that had a lot of rectangular tables. It went completely unseen by some but a few figured it out, the idea for the table was to soften hard edges of the rectangular looks and hard edges of tables. I don't know if that pertains to you, just something I remembered from my rinky dinky 6 month con ed course.

I love having a round coffee table in our otherwise rectilinear Arts & Crafts style living room. It provides a great contrast to all the squares and rectangles. Also, the table is pretty big for our space, yet it doesn't get in the way like a rectangular coffee table would/did. It's easy to get around (function) and it looks terrific (form).

Our current set-up has the couch directly facing a pair of angled chairs, with the round coffee table + some passage space in between. We have a taller, also round, very small side table between the two armchairs with a lamp on it. It balances very nicely, and I love the roundness of both tables.

I have a round coffee table and I love it. No corners to bang my shins on!

Here is a picture of my living room with a round coffee table. It is actually a brass table from Egypt with hand carved wooden legs. It has been in my family for about 50 years so it means a lot to me. My living room has many different styles - eclectic? - because we have purchased things while stationed (Navy) in different regions. There are tables from Italy, Korea, Egypt, and an antique gateleg table.
This is an old picture - I've moved some things around but you get the idea. The picture was taken from my steps.

I have two round coffee tables and LOVE them both. They seem to anchor the space well, and you can move them more to the center of the room since there are no hard edges to worry about when walking around. These have been around a long time and I've never gotten tired of them.

The only concern I would have would be a 42 inch table in a 13 x 13 room - seems like a large table for that size room.

Do you have a photo of the furniture in that room you can post?

Forgot to add, you could cut out a piece of cardboard and place it up on some items to raise it's height and place it in the room to see how a table that size will look.

Thanks for the pics! I don't have any pics to share yet, as this room is currently my dining room and I am swapping the dining room and sitting area. I have ordered a loveseat - comfy but small scale and I also have a smaller piano to go in that room. So far, not too much furniture, IMO.

I went and saw the table at the auction house today. It is very nice in real life. It looks very similar to jjam's.

I plan to bid on it because I would like it. The owner said he can strip the heavy varnish for just $40 and give me (one of his 'preferred' customers, LOL!) free delivery. So, if I can get the table at a nice price, it could work very nicely for me. :) I'll let everyone know the outcome of the auction after the close tomorrow noon.
