Tara, All of those rooms are so wonderful. Such a transformation. You have a great eye for decorating. AND I know how hard you worked on your home. You are amazing with all that DIYing (while home schooling, too!) I have enjoyed following all your posts in all the different forums. You are an inspiration for me to get back to doing more projects in my house.

I hope you and your family enjoy many happy times in your new home. No one deserves it more.

I can answer that! She used Jamesboro Gold. Isn't it sad that I've memorized everyone's colors. I liked JG so much in her house, that it's one of the colors I tried on my wall.

Tara - I was looking at your kitchen when my husband walked by and commented on what a nice kitchen it is and he never comments on things like that.

I'm just starting to hang out here since I moved into my new house a couple of months ago, so I don't know all your history. But I surely do love what you've done with your kitchen and living room areas. That wall color is stupendous with the hardwood floor.

And I am so happy that you used similar cabs in your living room and kitchen -- that's what I did, and I've been really worried folks would think it was weird!

I'm the same way with colors..you're right, Jamesboro Gold...I also really liked Norwich Brown....the JG takes on cool changes in different lights (daylight and incandescent)...it's all the same color in kitchen and great room and just used 20% on the tray ceiling...

This house has been such the project, I think my children have read more books this summer than ever (I think between the three of them they've read over 75 books!) I think they realized if they bothered me while tiling/painting/stripping wall paper/staining floors/cleaning up etc. they'd be recruited! :) They're actually begging for school work at this point! :) But, they've also been such great helpers and know more about electric/plumbing/pier foundation supports/soil testing/insulation/drywall than most kids their age...we've all really worked as a team and are so thankful for the great subs we've used along the way...they're like family to us now...

It'll be nice to come in and put the window treatments and such together to make it feel like home...hoping our last building inspection passes on Friday and we're sleeping there that night! :)

Tara, that's great that your kids helped out so much. I'm jealous. Mine just destroyed our upstairs...nothing like a kick in the solar plexus from a member of your own team. :(

But a question: what pics is the Pittsboro Buff in? Is it *all* the "after" pics in the upstairs construction? I'm trying to find a color like the *first* pic, but the darn colors won't hold still long enough, we have so many different light sources.

Ouch! Solar plexus! No good!! I did have an xray on my nose when a framed opening fell on the bridge of it..now I have a bent nose...fun.

The Pittsfield Buff is pictured in the first two shots...the third shot is Cottage Cream (SW) for my girls' bedroom...PB takes on many different looks depending on the light...the skylights add a lot of daylight and in the room with less daylight (media/school room) it looks more creamy than golden..I've used about 11 colors in this house...

I love everything you have done!!! Is the Jamesboro gold the color on your kitchen and familyroom walls? Who makes Jamesboro? SW, BM, etc..What color did you paint your fireplace and bookcases? Did you glaze them afterwards? Who did you order your kitchen cabinets from? Love them ecspecially the beadboard detail of your toekicks. Fantastic light over your island!!! What ever poster said you have created a warm inviting home already even without furniture was absolutley right!!!

You've done a remarkable job! Hope your Final Inspection is perfect - The colors and painting is so nice together. Your kids did learn alot - at this point they know more about building and project management then many adults - knowledge they will benefit from in later years.
Kuddos to your hubby too - it can't have been easy on him either.

I love it! I do have a question. I have posted pictures of my kitchen asking for help on here and don't really want to replace all the cabinets (can't afford) but want to say put a different cabinet over the range so that I can add an OTR microwave. I was totally thinking of just putting some different wood tone cabinets in certain places or painting some older cabinets that my mom has and incorporate them into my kitchen. How did you decide which cabinets to do in the different tone and come out that beautiful? What are your countertops?

Hey!! Just returned from a long day...passed the electrical inspection! Just have my final on Friday and we'll be done! I tried to get some additional pictures but it's hard to take pictures at some angles...here are some additional shots...

Downstairs Guest bath...

My master bathroom had the same vanity/flooring/toilet as the previous bathroom..they used all those in all 3 baths...so I bought a new vanity very cheap and painted it and tiled the floor...I've got to go buy some brushed nickel or pewter knobs...just haven't found any I like yet...

I only used Jamesboro Gold in the kitchen and great room...Norwich Brown was my second choice...
Alicia...I really wanted a kitchen that looked a little rustic and I love maple cabinetry but didn't like the look of wood floors against wood stained cabinets..they just seem to clash unless they're much different in color...so I simply used the same stain on my maple as I used on the white oak floors...it may not really "match" but they blend well and I think you'd enjoy the look of throwing another color in whether your cabinets are painted or stained..and using the opposite above your range...there are several kitchens in the remodel section that show some beautiful colors/stains mixed..they look amazing!! It would definitely be much better than redoing them all...I think you'd love the look!

On the master bath...I painted those cabinets..a'la igloochic's instructions! :) It was very easy! I'm not too sold on the cabinet color, while I like it on it's own I just don't think it pops like I'd thought it would...but for a quart of paint and time, it's soo much better than the orange stained looking option that I had! :) The floor tiles were $9/sq foot tile...but I got them for .75 cents per sq. foot! :) Someone had returned them...and it worked great! :) I hope in 5-10 years to do a complete remodel on the bathroom so I didn't want to do anything more than a quick update...

Here's a pic of the tile in the new bathroom that I put in the finished attic space...I'm going with a beach theme..

All I can say right now is.....WOW everything is BEAUTIFUL!

Hey auburnfan! :) How's your house going??? I loved the blue in the dining room...it's Woodlawn Blue...I had to choose that chandelier because it was the only one that had the option of 100 W bulbs en masse...we'll be using that room as a music room, and our shiny black piano will be the focal point...needed lots of light to read by! :) Have some cool fabric picked out to tie it all together...another project to come! :)

Oh, final reveal will probably be sometime in 2010! :) HA!! I think I'll slow down to a turtle's pace and get back to living after that! :) But, will post pics as I get to them! :)

Hi Tara,
Overall the build is still going well, although this was a hard week. I just don't love the floors. I went to all that trouble to get the "right" stain, and it doesn't look right to me. I seem to be the only one who feels this way, so hopefully it's all in my head. Then, yesterday, they started pushing the closing date back. :-( It was supposed to be the 19th, and I hope it will at least still be this month. Why does that week have to be a holiday??? Oh well. I did take some pictures yesterday, so maybe I'll try to post them later.
