I can't see the walls in the f/u pics but the smaller pillows look so much better. I like something behind the sofa better than nothing...it is hard to tell with the "upclose" photos. It certainly looks like you have worked VERY hard.. I look forward to seeing more. c

Trailrunner, it is kinda hard to tell with the closeups, but I had to take the photos this way since the rest of the room was still a disaster. LOL!

There was furniture pulled out away from the walls and all the stuff I took off the walls was piled all over the place.

I agree that this pillows look sooo much better than the huge ones. I sort of like the look of the tables behind the sofa also, but there isn't much room back there and it's a pain to sweep. I'm always so scared I'm going to hit one of the lamps and break the globe.

I know you haven't mentioned anything else in the photos but I would try removing the valances for a more serene, less busy look and would also remove the doily from the table. I like the tables in the back of the sofa, and wouldn't you need some lighting there anyway? I like the flowery pillows because of the contrast in pattern and color which lends interest, and also because it ties together the sofa and chair.

I'm so happy youu are pleased with the results of washing instead of painting, since you liked the color, and you did not want to have to bug DH about painting again.

You should be proud! Sore muscles will go away in a day but the results will last a long time. You will smile when you are in the room relaxing.

Since the room is Victorian, I like the table behind the couch. Victorian was about excess and offbeat scale. But of course don't be a slave to upkeep if having a table behind the couch is too hard to manage with housekeeping.

Have you tried using three pillows on the couch? Use one that you have there now with an even tinyer one, and one of the larger ones. You know, sort of 'mix it up'.

Your room looks very nice.

I too like the smaller pillows, in part because the fabric of the larger ones didn't really feel victorian, but modern instead.

I am wondering if you have considered putting the darker pink chair where the loveseat is? The loveseat fabric is very light, and kind of melts into the drapery fabric. The dark fabric color would help define the space, I think, and break up the long window/long seating issue.

Ingrid, you mentioned the pillows tying the sofa and chairs together. That's what I was trying to do with them. There's a big difference in the color of the chairs and the curtains and I was trying to add pillows that would pull all the colors together. Not too sure I managed to do it though.

Dilly_dally, that TSP is amazing! I can still faintly see in some place where things were hanging on the walls, but the spots aren't nearly as noticeable now as they were before I cleaned the walls.

Les, I swapped the chairs and sofa this morning. Here are a couple of photos. I had to move the coffee table down so it would be centered in front of the sofa, but now it's not centered with the medallion on the rug. What do you think of this arrangement?

I still haven't put anything back on the walls and looking at these photos, the room looks so empty to me!

Maybe scoot the rug down a little. This way only the back legs of chairs will be on rug just like the sofa. That might balance the medallion better. I really like the chairs in front of bay, makes it look more airy.

TSP kicks A$$ for cleaning walls. Unfortunately it is banned in some communities. Glad you liked it. (Don't ever use it on varnished trim or floors though. It ruins the shine.)

The chairs in front of the windows do look nice there, but then create the problem of the couch blocking the view and accessibility into the LR from the front door and creating a dead end space behind it. I can't see from the photos any other place to put it considering the contingencies of the fish tank, fireplace and entertainment center. I think the couch in the window is the better of the two arrangements.

Well, I ended up having to swap the chairs and sofa back the way they were. Dilly_dally, you were right...the couch blocked the view behind it too much and was really in the way coming in from the front door.

I did really like how the chairs looked in front of the window though.
