Very nice. So have you thought about how you are going to use it yet? It should prove intriguing to put in the floor since you only have the one insert. I can see it looking striking in a backsplash; but imagine it's too heavy for that.

Funny you call it "magical" design. I have been fascinated by Fibonacci spirals for a long time. I am attracted to "spirally arty stuff" too!

Moving about in the graphics and color world, I often come across the metaphysical-type folks and such. :-) Fun and intriguing.

The root of the Fibanocci spiral is 1 1 or could look at it as 11. The number 11 is interesting in and of itself. Since 9/11 it's become a little too... I don't know too something. My personal interest has more to do with natural repetitions and patterns.

Yes it's my Athena on the Chesapeake Bay at Calvert Cliffs drawing. I did a meditative exercise about Athena and this was how "she" presented herself to me (all in my mind's eye of course). To me, it's an exercise in revealing my own archetypal thinking to myself, but if I think about it in a more mystical way, it's rather inspiring to think some transcendent energy of Athena happened in my life one September evening.

I suppose the pattern is "magickal", to me, but the object was magical inasmuchas it was going to be the bit of fairy dust to make the kitchen happen. : D

I'm a very pantheistic sort of person, so Fibonacci spirals are fascinating to me as well. I have to confess not being an atheistic, science-focused pantheist-type though. The world of magick and Goddesses, even if only archetypal and meditative is so beautiful to me. : )

I don't know if this is considered a religious discussion or not, but really it's just an explanation of ideas associated with the trivet. Odd that a chunk of bronze could carry that much with it. See? Magic!

I was thinking about having it set into a butcher block countertop, near the stove and coffee area, but I might install it in the peninsula, so that guests can see it. Not really sure. I definitely don't want to "fix" its position. I also don't ever want to drop it on my toes. : )
