Seeya later, alligator....

Well, it's time. Surgery is later this morning, and I'm just up early ruminating and, honestly, feeling a just little bit sad that I have to leave my "new" kitchen only days after it became operational! (but not done by a long shot) :-) The appliances went in over several days last week, so we had beef aracherra on Thursday, marinated chicken and risotto on Friday, and home made pizzas on Saturday to give the new ovens a spin. My daughter has made muffins almost every morning and she's lovin' that bottom oven! (She called "dibs" on it early on, if you remember) My son (who made Chex Mix on Sunday, his "specialty") teased me about 'going out with a bang', and he nailed it--that's exactly right, and so what? :-) I won't be eating much of anything for the next few weeks, so I wanted to give the new toys a workout. The Miele induction cooktop performed just as I expected--perfectly. And the Electrolux ovens baked those pizzas evenly and beautifully--no spinning halfway through required! I loved having the extra sink--you all were so right to talk me into it. I'm feeling really happy with the layout and the whole family is enjoying the new space. I just want to sit at the island with a cup of coffee and plan the next cooking adventure. Ah, well. I'll be home in about a week. So, seeya then, GW friends. Thanks for all of your good wishes.

Eleven, I would assume the same thing. I got mine last year, and it has yet to bloom. Cannot draw any conclusions from that. To tell the truth, I forgot to look for Alligator Alley as I said I would, been too busy to swat mosquitos even. I know right where to find Alligator Shoes....but don't suppose you will take a picture of it instead? :) I'll put out an alert for Alligator Alley WANTED and see if it turns up tomorrow. In the meantime, I decided to EDIT this post and add a picture of AA taken on May8 2014, with my tablet camera which is always a "cooler" picture. Since we are talking color differences on this hosta, looking at my plant through a different lens might be interesting. As I recall when I took that picture, I took some with the Kindle FIRE on May 13th about a week later, of other hosta in same color options side by side, and they all had the real same color quality live and in person. The warmer tone is the actual and real tone of these plants, NOT the cooler version. and here AA is grabbing just a corner of this picture of Dance With Me, Mango Tango, Princetta (the solid green gold) and a piece of Alligator Alley.off in the bottom left. I enjoyed putting their pots together so I could figure out who was who next time. I was impressed how much like a family group they appear to be. Howard RAF & Feed N Wax question...

Shee: My tables seem to have had some shoddy attempt at refinishing with several layers of varnish incorrectly applied so what I had with mine may not be true of yours. That said, I would still not recommend RAF as it's an inlay table with different colored wood and if the RAF did penetrate, it would probably ruin the look of the inlay. I ended up stripping and refinishing the tops with a clear varnish and sealer. I did put RAF on the legs, but the Formby's cleaner probably would've been a better choice. IN your situation, most likely would I would do would be to give it a good cleaning with toothbrush and lint free rags with either the cleaner mentioned above or Murphy's Oil Soap. Then I'd follow that with an application of lemon oil, let that soak in; then finish with an application of the Feed N Wax.

Mantis - The hybridizer is James Hall - Mljomo on the Lily Auction. I got Scarlet Angel from him and he sent me his Red Head. I actually like it better than Scarlet Angel. James has a lot of intros now and usually sends those as bonuses. I think they all start with the word Buddy's. I've gotten several of his auctions over the years. Sounds like you're going into surgery knowing that your kitchen is coming together just right and with no outstanding worries or aggravations.
