Sorry, but I would not buy that sink at all. It's a 50-50 divide, which means neither side will be big enough for pots or roasters or anything larger than a dish. Although the specs don't say the width of each side, I can extrapolate that they're about 14" wide each, given the divider. The front-to-back is 8". Really, get out a ruler and see how small is 14" x 8". This is not a good sink for a kitchen.

Also, I would be concerned about the strain on your back because the concave portion across the front means you will have to reach quite far into the sink to do anything. Usually a sink that has more than 5" of countertop in front of it is hard on your back because you have to bend and lean to use the sink.

Furthermore, while the curved shape is attractive to you right now, I wonder how you will feel about it in a year. Right now, it's new and different from other sinks you've seen. But once the novelty wears off, will you be tired of it. Remember that a sink is a pretty permanent part of your kitchen. Unlike other areas of a kitchen, it will be very hard to change it out for something you'd like better.

Sorry, I made a mistake on the front-to-back measurement in my post above. The interior is 16" front-to-back. Nevertheless, I stand by my rec not to buy this sink. 14" x 16" each bowl is too small. Plus my other reasons to avoid the sink that I wrote above.

Thanks for your input - you are right...I'd rather have a single sink. I think I remember seeing this company have those. Also, it's a farmhouse style so wouldn't the curve be in front with no counterspace?

Oh man--my bad! I am writing too quickly, and doing other stuff at the same time. You are right--it's an apron front, so my issue with the countertop in front is not an issue. I still don't like the 50-50 split, and think that is the overriding problem.

Also, where would the faucet go on that sink? If the faucet will be centered, will you have enough room behind the sink for the faucet given the shape? If the faucet will be on one side, well, do you like that?

As to a double bowl sink, do you have more room than the 30" width of the sink you linked? If you can go wider, and you like a double bowl apron front sink, there are some that have a 70-30 split so that one bowl is nice and wide, and the other bowl you can use for vegetable peeling, rinsing, etc.

If you must stick with a 30" width, then I think a single bowl sink is preferable. Will you be having a prep sink too?

The sink is quite reasonably priced; the custom cabinet with a matching curve is gonna knock you back on your heels.

I agree. Although it's pretty cool looking, the curve reduces the actual usable space. It's not practical for those who prefer a large single bowl because of the divider. But it's not practical for those who want a divider either because of the curvature.

I love the picture you posted of the round kitchen. I was in a curvy kitchen once though, and had the same impression: the curving reduced the usable space and/or the accessibility. Cool to look at but not so cool to use on a daily basis.

I think there are ways to incorporate curves into your design if you like them, while still keeping things practical. In your pulls for example.

I have this moen granite composite sink with a curve in the top, the curve is incorporated into the granite but the shape of the sink itself is still a rectangle.

The mag board, I made. I just put those pix up in response to this thread where you can read the whole story.

My drawers are also sort of DIY. I got the drawer dividers from Lee Valley. Then bought the wood strips from Lowe's locally, and cut to size, sanded and stained. I did not want to attach those dividers directly to the drawers and put holes in the sides of the drawers so I did a frame with the wood strips. I can lift the whole thing out with no damage to the drawers. And by the way, I'm not much of a DIYer... both these projects were very easy to do. I used a jigsaw to cut the wood - very easy!

Thanks on the backsplash!! They're not real copper but meant to look like it. I wanted to do a grape/wine theme in the kitchen and came across these to use as accent tiles. I love them!

I'm not at home now and can't remember exactly how far out the window goes. Probably about a foot or so? I got that idea here - bay window with granite going out into the window. Used to have a small window above the sink (typical of 60s houses) and this is just SO much nicer. I actually eliminated a window because I incorporated what used to be the breakfast nook into the kitchen so the extra light makes it work perfectly.

I had figured on buying an expensive custom bay window but my contractor said, Nah! We'll just frame out three windows and buy three reasonably priced windows to put in there. I had a great GC!

I absolutely LOVE my travertine floors. They don't show dirt and they always look good. I'm a huge fan of the beauty of natural stone. I did those floors in the kitch/laundry room, and carried them into the family room and hallway. Love it.

LOL on the aprons! I don't wear them as often as I should!!

Yeah, the glasses. Well, the best place for glasses is near the fridge IMO and well, I don't have any upper cabs near the fridge. So in the drawer they went. And it works great!! I don't have any problems with them sliding around or falling over.

I love my appliance garage. In fact, it was one of the key elements I wanted that I just HAD to have. My appliances used to sit on the counter in a tangled mess. Now they sit on the counter, plugged into a strip of plugmold so no more tangling, but HIDDEN! So still very handy and accessible but with a clean uncluttered look. The thing is, I don't like tambour doors so I had to have a lift up pocket door. Not easy to get as it turns out but Brookhaven has them as an option and that helped me make the decision on which cabinets to buy.

Honestly, I never really stored anything on top of the fridge. So the tray storage works great for me. I'm short (5'3") and all I need to reach is the bottom of those trays. So it's a really good use of storage space since I can use the height of the cabinet and still reach everything in there.

My pulls are Amerock IIRC. Keep in mind, my kitchen was competed in Nov 04, so who knows if anything like that is still available.

I saw a sink today that was one big bowl with a curved back. Thought you might like it too. This is a Tricor from Galaxy Tools (no, I don't work for them :)). I had one of their sinks in my last house. (Folks here turned me on to them. Good quality, fair prices.) Good luck with your build. We did a kitchen remodel on our previous small kitchen about 4 years ago. Two years later we fell in love with another house in the same neighborhood, and bought it and its 20-year-old kind of icky kitchen! So now we are planning a (hopefully) budget remodel. Watching SpongeBob could be good comic relief once we get started!
