Funky Granite - Sink is now in! What do you think??
Comments (22)I had my Black Marinace (Mar in a chee) installed yesterday. There are different color variations of the Marinace granite. They also had Brown Marinace at my stone yard and it was really nice too. I think there is a Gold Marinace, as well. I went with the black as we have dark grey floors and white tiles. It is a contemporary bathroom and DH is building the floating vanity (no drawer fronts yet and sinks not installed. no hardware or mirror chosen yet) I will post pics when we are closer to being finished. In a way it is a shame because with our vanity top we are putting in 2 sinks so you will not see as much of the countertop as yours with the single sink. Love the granite though! It is considered an exotic granite....See MoreWhich sink do you think would go best in our kitchen?
Comments (32)I think crazy fits me right now, lol. All this obsessing over details, that, like you said no one else will even care about.;-) I love ORB hardware and fixtures, and I like some ORB faucets too but am fairly particular about the finish on them. I love the stainless finish on the Danze but haven't seen the ORB irl to know if I'd like it as much, so I'm a little nervous to go that route. I'm sure any of it will be fine, and I just need to pick one and move on to the next detail. Thanks for the feedback on my kitchen. I am so excited to see it coming together and am grateful to you and all the others that helped so much in the early stages.:-) Beschenbach - The hardware is Amerock French Country. I have samples on the way from Knobs4less.com, and I'm hoping I like it as it's very inexpensive. I also found those and some others similar to it on Myknobs.com for great prices if you haven't tried that already....See MoreWhat do you think of this sink?
Comments (19)The C-Tech sink is a brushed stainless finish. The seller is going to send me some close up pics of the sink today and I'll see how flexible she is on pricing. I'm not willing to pay the $400 price she's asking but I already told her that. I found it online for $430; MSRP is about $725. I want to pay $250 but if I loved it would go $300. My kitchen will lean toward modern/casual. Actually... it'll be a real mix. I was thinking of SS countertops for the sink run since it will be right against the marble the baker's table will have. I'm not sure if mixing marble, SS, and some kind of granite on the cooking side would be too much in a rather small kitchen. BUt once again... I get ahead of myself. Need something to think about while I WAIT WAIT WAIT for this to get started....See MoreWhat do you think of this curved sink?
Comments (13)Wow, melaska! Thanks for all the compliments!!! The mag board, I made. I just put those pix up in response to this thread where you can read the whole story. My drawers are also sort of DIY. I got the drawer dividers from Lee Valley. Then bought the wood strips from Lowe's locally, and cut to size, sanded and stained. I did not want to attach those dividers directly to the drawers and put holes in the sides of the drawers so I did a frame with the wood strips. I can lift the whole thing out with no damage to the drawers. And by the way, I'm not much of a DIYer... both these projects were very easy to do. I used a jigsaw to cut the wood - very easy! Thanks on the backsplash!! They're not real copper but meant to look like it. I wanted to do a grape/wine theme in the kitchen and came across these to use as accent tiles. I love them! I'm not at home now and can't remember exactly how far out the window goes. Probably about a foot or so? I got that idea here - bay window with granite going out into the window. Used to have a small window above the sink (typical of 60s houses) and this is just SO much nicer. I actually eliminated a window because I incorporated what used to be the breakfast nook into the kitchen so the extra light makes it work perfectly. I had figured on buying an expensive custom bay window but my contractor said, Nah! We'll just frame out three windows and buy three reasonably priced windows to put in there. I had a great GC! I absolutely LOVE my travertine floors. They don't show dirt and they always look good. I'm a huge fan of the beauty of natural stone. I did those floors in the kitch/laundry room, and carried them into the family room and hallway. Love it. LOL on the aprons! I don't wear them as often as I should!! Yeah, the glasses. Well, the best place for glasses is near the fridge IMO and well, I don't have any upper cabs near the fridge. So in the drawer they went. And it works great!! I don't have any problems with them sliding around or falling over. I love my appliance garage. In fact, it was one of the key elements I wanted that I just HAD to have. My appliances used to sit on the counter in a tangled mess. Now they sit on the counter, plugged into a strip of plugmold so no more tangling, but HIDDEN! So still very handy and accessible but with a clean uncluttered look. The thing is, I don't like tambour doors so I had to have a lift up pocket door. Not easy to get as it turns out but Brookhaven has them as an option and that helped me make the decision on which cabinets to buy. Honestly, I never really stored anything on top of the fridge. So the tray storage works great for me. I'm short (5'3") and all I need to reach is the bottom of those trays. So it's a really good use of storage space since I can use the height of the cabinet and still reach everything in there. My pulls are Amerock IIRC. Keep in mind, my kitchen was competed in Nov 04, so who knows if anything like that is still available. LMK if you have any more questions. Good luck with your remodel!!...See Moredavidro1
