Wolf cooktop burner 'explodes' when on simmer
Comments (37)The Wolf repair guy was here. It is a known problem to the manufacturer. He called Wolf Sub Zero. It exploded while on simmer a few minutes after he turned it on. Supposedly they have changed the design on the new ones. So including today's visit it will be a $900 repair. Something is bent and it needs new gaskets from the repair kit. I would switch to the highly rated 5 Burner Samsung but there is a piece that sticks out so it won't fit. New Wolf cooktops are back ordered until the end of April around here. Has anyone in this group explored a class action suit? Wolf Sub Zero prides itself on reliability....See More30" gas cooktop advice - bosch NGM8054UC or wolf?

Comments (4)This thread is ten years old already. I’ll go ahead and comment for the benefit of others who may still need the insight. I can comment knowledgeably on a Wolf gas cooktop. But I’ve only had a Miele electric induction cooktop. Customer service-wise HANDS DOWN Wolf wins. Miele is notoriously lacking in this regard. Call Miele, you get an uniformed agent answering at an offshore call center. Call Wolf, you get a person in Wisconsin—where the unit is MADE. As for help with any malfunctions, I’ve had my Wolf for less than a year, so it‘s hard to say. It‘s been working beautifully. In my research Wolf’s largest burner had the most BTUs of any among its competitors, yet it also allows for gentle simmering. In fact, one half of the dial is dedicated to simmering. My Miele was plagued with issues. Of the four Miele appliances purchased for my last home, I had consistent issues with two. I can only assume Miele dependability is a toss-up. Comments (12)I agree that the Wolf cook tops are nice - my parents just did a massive renovation (gutting) of an entire house - and they put a Wolf 5 burner cook top in - granted it's not the commercial scorch your eyebrows of the BlueStar and others in that sphere, but I have cooked on it several times and think for the everyday cook it is just fine - and has a nice fit/finish to it (at least to my eye). We are just starting to build a new home and I will be looking very hard at the 36 inch Wolf range top (I want and would use an integrated griddle quite a bit - so want to do a little research and hand's on experimentation on that part before I make a final decision)...See Moredogridge
