Like the bear but not feeling the love with the white sparkly centerpiece. Can you move the centerpiece to another spot and add something green? It would be more noticeable against your white table cover.

Oakley, I think it looks great, but then I don't get too serious about holiday decorating.

Thanks, Barb. They haven't been by yet but I have certain little areas with primary colors for them. The oldest is 3 and loves decorated trees.

Gracie, I think you're right. The all white just blends in. I'll search around and see what I can find. I'm going to Walmart soon, they may have a cheapie something I could put there. lol Actually, Walmart carries nice Christmas decorations now.

You could wrap up some boxes of various sizes and use them to add height to other things. Do you have any more teddy bear items? That'd be cute there. I'd also add some ribbon and bow to the lamp.

We just decorated a meeting room for a Christmas party and did lots of tablescapes. I think the more the better when it comes to holiday decorating, so if it were my table, I'd probably remove the lace topper and add a red felt topper, and if you still wanted the lace, put that over top. Wrap up a couple of boxes from the pantry to look like presents, then stack those and tuck in greens here and there. You could still use your white piece if you set it on the stacked 'presents'. Add more 'stuff'...don't know what you have on hand, tho. Can you tell me what you might have?

I think it is a cute idea, and your grandkids will love having special places just for them. But this feels kind of disjointed, and the lace topper isn't doing anything for the rest of the display. Do you have a piece of felt you could use instead, or maybe a piece of red or green burlap?

Keep the lamp, but take a couple of the pine cone ornaments on the tray and tie them with ribbon through the two handles on the lamp. Take the white garland and swag it on the lampshade. You can probably use some small paper clips to hold it on the top edge of the shade. Then hide the small paper clips by hanging the rest of the acorn ornaments on those, tied on with bows. Now move the lamp to center back of the table.

Keep the chair and bear - so cute! Just pull them forward a bit, to the right of the lamp that is now centered in the back.

Put the tray to the left side of the table, and forward. Take off the glass, (the garland and ornaments would be on the lamp)but keep the Santa with the tree, and the other little tree.

I think the tray is silver or silver plate, yes? I would polish it up, get some of the fake snow or fluffy snow batting, and put that around the rim area, leaving the center open to look like ice. Stand the little tree and the Santa on the rim in the snow, and leave the "ice" visible.

Or, if the silver tray doesn't work, do something similar with a smaller framed mirror that you might have somewhere, hiding the frame with snow batting. A few more trees, to create a holiday forest, would be fun, too, all on the tray or mirror.

Pesky, if I wasn't in the process of wrapping real presents, I would take your suggestion. lol.

Les, what if I take the topper off the table and put a runner there instead? I don't have any felt, but the oak in the table isn't really pretty for Christmas.

The bear has a mate, but it's put up. I could get it out. I like the idea of having just santa and the tree on the tray, which is plated, and very shiny but it didn't come across as shiny in the picture. I also have snow flakes and matted snow, but I'll use the matted snow because of the 1 year old who puts everything in her mouth. lol.

Should I put the garland going up the base of the lamp? I just don't want any fire hazzard. It's a 60w bulb I believe.

I think to get the charming cozy corner you desire the table needs to be fully skirted even if it's just a white sheet - you could have a piece of plywood/MDF cut into a round to place on top to round off, then a topper which compliments tablecloth best.

As for the lamp, you could cover/insert the base in a Christmas wrapped box w/ribbon/bow--w/stem sticking out of top and some smaller boxes nesting around it.

You could temporary attach the white garland to the bottom of the shade.

I think I would put the ornies/bead garland together in a dish or bowl,maybe put that bowl on the tray.

This idea is tricky when it comes to decorating for kids. Little kids see wrapped boxes and think they're real, and then you have to explain that there's nothing inside. Which is confusing for little kids.

My mother used to do this when I was very little, and to this day, when I see a fake "present", I feel a deep sense of resentment. Even those tiny wrapped presents designed to hang on a tree... I see one of those and I think, that's empty. It's pointless. It's mean. It should have something inside. A diamond ring, or a single M&M, something.

Of course, that story probably says more about me than you wanted to know, lol....

Mc, that's sad! lol. Jim, I'm enclosing a photo of the game table that's near the corner table. I want you to see the table topper on it which I love. In fact, I had it in the corner last year.

I moved the lace topper from an angel to square, and put a folded silver runner on top. I think it looks much better.

Ignore the mess though, that table has been a God send to sort out decorations and it will be the last thing decorated.

Mr. Santa won't stand on his own so I put him to the side.

I kind of like this grouping better but will need to find another area for the chair.

But I'm still open for critiques! Oh and Jim, my goal is for a totally layered living room one of these days!

I like the 2nd to the last photo best. You may want to remove the lacy doily and just use the pretty silver one.

I use to have a guy from my local floral shop come and decorate my home. One thing he always did, was group my like items together. So, if you have more Santa's or more glittery trees, you may want to replace the floral vase w/them.
My items seemed to make a bigger impact when they were grouped together.

Jeannie, I took down the glass vase. It's sitting on the game table in the last picture but that table isn't decorated yet.

That's a lace table topper, not a doily. There's a matching topper on the dining room table sitting on top of a Christmasy red table cloth. The silver runner is too narrow and long to use on the corner table by itself.

I found some fairy lights I had in the closet! Here's what I did. I've since tweaked them.

I think it looks very nice but here is my suggestion. Put the table flat against the wall. Then take away the red basket. Put the tray on the left, little angel in front of the green vase, which should be brought a little forward. Done!. You could put a red tassel on the lamp and the red basket on the floor under the table if you want a touch of red.

I'll try your arrangement, but I do like filled areas. The basket would be too small to set on the floor but that's no problem.

That corner gets no natural light, so right now I have the lamp turned off and the green fairy lights on. Oh my, it is beautiful! I'm going to buy more if Walmart still has them.
