OOPS..forgot to mention that the carpeting is going and we're having hardwood installed mid-December. (Not too late to change it to the cream w2w that I've been debating as well. DH prefers hardwood)

Your room is so glamourous. The sheepskin, the mirrored surfaces, the light colors -- I just can't not like anything about it. As far as I'm concerned you could refresh the flooring and call it perfect.

That said, I like the turquoise nighstands because of the classic asian feel of the raised design.

Concerns about losing the dark nightstands... Currently the darkness is balanced -- between nightstands, dresser, drapery hardware and drapes you have some on each wall. If you change the drapes and the nightstands, then the dresser will be the dark accent. Which will be fine, but you might want to change the dark shelf and lighten the drapery rod? And will the dark frame still work?

I'm a hardwood lover, and I don't ordinarily like the muffled feeling of wall-to-wall carpeting, but I sure do like it in your room, although when the dark furn and drapes are switched out for light I might change my tune.

I much prefer the turquoise, although the height of the other table is better for the bed. I wouldn't paint it creamy white - I'd leave it in its distressed turquoise state as it brings some unexpected color to the space in a space with muted/tone-on-tone colors. I think it would lose it's uniqueness painted white. You might even want to replace the white vase on the ledge with a turquoise vase or some other turquoise in the room to bring it together.

I don't care much for the second bedside table option and don't think it's the right piece for such a elegant looking bedroom.

As far as the duvet cover, I like the old one. The blue paisley is ok but I'm not sure it's so nice that it's worth the effort of re-painting and re-decorating around. I think what you currently have is very pretty. I like that the coverlet matches your headboard.

I like the fact that your bedroom set matches. I know some don't like matchy-matchy but I like a coordinated bedroom. I also agree with jamies that the darkness accents the bed beautifully. I'd consider buying new legs for the nightstands to raise them off the floor some. If you can't find an exact profile for them, you could recess them enough to not be noticed. Just a thought.

You have a beautiful bedroom! I like the turquoise night stands a lot. I even like the color in the room. Have you considered keeping them turquoise for a while? If you do you could add a couple other turquoise touches like in a pillow or the vases.

Think I'm ruling out the 'Option 2' nightstand as well (at least for this room:)) Besides, I do just have the one and would much prefer 2 matching nightstands.

Other thing I forgot to mention is that I'm willing to change/re-upholster the headboard. ie... If I went with the paisley duvet cover, I would probably go with a diamond-tufted pattern in a fabric like a simple white cotton duck.

With the current bedding, I've still been contemplating a change in fabric (maybe velvet) and new paint color.

I warned you that I'm going around in circles in this room (oh...and the family room and so on...)

I love the look of the bed and definitely wouldn't change a thing! And I really prefer the round mirror! I've been looking for something just like that . . . Mind sharing where you got it?

Check out Z Gallerie or visit stores like HomeSense/HomeGoods as they often have similiar mirrors.

On the turquoise tables, I think I really need to paint them. I know the color adds a hit of unexpected color, but they really are a strong color IRL and just too out of my comfort zone to keep as is. (I would like them in the pretty 'Tiffany's' Blue, but still likely wouldn't work for me in this room.)

Would they look odd painted in a creamy white with the dark dresser?? (Reality is that I'd like to get rid of the dresser too...)

Hi Lisa. Is the first nightstand cream and gray? I don't know where you are located but I was in HomeSense in Guelph Ontario today and they had one. New store..... just opened this month. Maybe you could send them a pic and get them to hold it for you if you really wanted another one.

I prefer the round mirror.
I am not a fan of the 2 tone drapes.
I'd go with raising your current nightstands or painting and using the new ones. Have you considered silver for them?

Basically, I'd keep it simple. It looks nice already ;)

lisa, where did the turquoise dressers come from? I think they might be too wide for my space, but I'm looking for something similar for our guest room and I'm having a tough time finding anything.

MFR is Tainoki & dimensions are 28.5''h x 30''w x 17.5''d.
(the cream cabinet specs are 29.5h x 29w x 14d) It took a few visits to different stores to find a match as not 1 store seemed to have 2 of any matching tables...

I think the round mirror works very well there, but the larger mirror is shiny overkill.

The draperies in the first photo look great.

When we changed to a king sized bed, we were able to keep the nightstands, but had to replace the lamps with a much taller pair. In your case, I agree that you need the larger nightstands, so I would suggest you keep the turquoise pair. Why not try the Tiffany blue and see if you can live with that color?

I also love the picture to the right of the bed. Can you tell me about it?

lionors~I had bought the framed print at a local store here in Toronto a few years ago.

It was by Horst Jonas and titled 'Autumn Whimsy II'
There is another Autumn Whimsy print in the reverse colorway as well.

Buys some screw in feet and add them to the original nightstands, you need to keep them dark. Leave the original bedding, it makes the right balance between glam and casual. I love the warmth of the wall color. Take the mirrored box off the round table and put it on the left hand nightstand. Then find a nice wooden box to match the end tables and place it on the mirrored table. The drapes are fine. Put in the floor and call it perfection.

I too like the original nightstands. It looks like screw in feet would not work well unless you can get square ones and then it might look too top heavy....I would talk to a local furniture/cabinet maker and see if he has any ideas. Maybe duplicate the top section with one on the bottom and taller legs.

Thanks for the info on the mirror! Maybe this would be overkill (it's hard for me to tell w/o seeing the whole room together), but what about one of the mirrored side tables they always have at Home Goods these days. They also seem to be carrying a lot of round white and other colored tables that might look great in your space too (but no storage, if that's important to you). I definitely agree that whatever you go with it should be taller than the dark one, and more like the height of the turquoise or gray/white one. I also agree with moving the mirrored box to another location to break up the mirrors in that area. Lovely room though! HTH!
