I like the richness of the sky! What a nice color.

I was thinking of using seaglass in my jack and jill bath with white beadboard.

I second sky. Seaglass is a nice color but seems like more of a newborns color not master bedroom color especially in that large space...JMO

I had Ellen a color for me that was two shades darker than Sky which she called Dark Sky. It worked for me at my previous home.

So, am I clear about this...? The bedding will be the warm ivory, not the floral?

If so, I think the blue will be nice, but I urge you to bring in warm touches, to go with the bedding and warm up the room some. WTs will help. The blue looks kind of chilly to me, but it's "cold" here this morning!

I have a warm but soothing green in my bedroom. It is very restful without being too cool. Adjoining bathroom is pale blue. I also like that last color oceanna did for you. I can imagine it with WTs and accents in the lighter blue of the sky in your artwork.

Amy's comments remind me of the blue bathroom in my house. My whole house is sage greens and wheat, save for one guest bathroom which I did in blue pearl granite, blue/gray slate floors, white appliances and blue walls. My husband liked taking a shower in there when we were redoing the house. I felt cold in that room. I changed the walls to a wallpaper instead that is faux grasscloth but similar color to the blue on the walls. I painted the vanity, the linen closet and all trim including crown a warm taupe color. It looks less spa-like.

Hmmm, thanks Oceanna. Is that last color, the beige, Adobe? And the middle I'm guessing is the Sky? I'm not liking the first one, the seaglass, it's looking rather odd to me, at least on my monitor.

Yes amysqr, the floral bedding is being replaced with the off white/beige. I have coordinating valances and I'm thinking of an off white panel pulled to one side for each window...I haven't found the right match yet and have been holding off on putting anything up until the room is painted.

Now for those of us, (read "me") that are terrible with warm/cool colors, do you think it's ok to match the cool blue of Sky with the warm Ivory? Or is that why something feels not quite right about it to me?

Threedgrad, I like the Dark Sky. My Sky sample looks grey often, is that what you saw with the Dark Sky? I usually a darker color person (I love my Moutarde, Pumpkin Spice and Edgewood Green) and I'm having a tough time making the jump to the lighter colors.

I don't have Photoshop, so they're no particular color. That's why I said they're just to help you visualize. I guess I should let the PS folks do it from now on. Maybe I stopped one of them from giving you more help, sorry.

I think it is advisable to have a mix of warm and cool, though some would not agree with me. What color is the carpet? Will you throw a few rugs around?

Kabergs - yes, I am looking for a soothing, warm and cozy bedroom color. I just ordered RH's goldenrod silk quilt with brown backing. I have been looking for a light weight bedspread bc my DH folds the bedspread on top of me when he goes to bed and I feel like I am under 2 feet of down. I think the quilt is light enough that he will keep it on his side and not double it up over the top of me.
Because it is golden in color with brown I am not sure what color I will go with. I haven't bought WTs yet - I was waiting for the quilt to come in and then look for a color. I will get the dupioni's at the same store where I got the ones in my FR - they are really good at picking out what looks good. I may have them help me with a wall color too. I don't think I will go with a gold on the walls but maybe a creamy color neutral but I am trying to downsize the large space so it's not so cavernous.
My MBR is massive - too big - you could make it into 3 bedrooms - waste of space in my opinion. And there is a hallway where our closets are that lead into the masterbath. I need to get WTs for that too. It's been 2 years of living with the builder white walls with no WT's except for the blinds so I am ready to do something. At this point I just want something done. I will post pictures again once I get the quilt.

Sorry I don't mean to go on and on - I guess the short answer to your question is a dark creamy color but I am not sure.

For your room - are you going with the silvery bedding or the dark one that is on the bed now? I am not sure if the seaglass would be something for an adult bedroom but that is just me. I love the color and I am going to put it in the kids' bathroom so maybe that is why I was thinking it wasn't for adults. I do think seaglass is serene and very spa-like. I am NO color expert - I can't even tell what colors make up other colors. I hesitate to give others' my opinion bc I don't feel confident about my own decisions.

I will keep checking back to see what you decide - and keep posting pictures. BTW - you have a beautiful home and I love love your kitchen!

The Dark Sky looked blue not gray, probably because it was a stronger color than regular sky, it had more punch!

Amysqr, the carpet is an ivory/tan berber pattern...very neutral. I probably won't put rugs down for a bit. Maybe it's just me but I have a hard time with a rug the berber. I know it's done all the time and it looks nice, I just haven't been able to picture it on this carpet. I'll have to keep searching.

Hoyamom, thank you! I love the dupioi's in your living room, they are a beautiful color. I'm using the silvery bedding (it's actually ivory but certainly reads silver in that photo). I purchased it in May and have been very impatiently waiting to paint before using it.

Hi, here's an "old" photo of Adobe in our small, guest BR -- before it was finished. (I haven't been on the forum for a long time but have been wanting to post a few completed projects, one of which is a headboard and pillows for this bed. Maybe over this holiday break.) Adobe is such a soothing color.

When I first read your post I was concerned at the color choices then I read on realized you're the one with the Moutarde and Pumpkin and you know what you're doing. :) Your dining room is one of my all-time favorites.

Interestingly and if I recall correctly, Demifloyd has sort of a reverse color situation as your two current choices. She has Adobe in master BR and soft blue drapes.

Adobe for a transition from the outdoors into a home seems dark to me, but it sounds like it would work if you have a good amount of light and your other EK colors are in adjoining rooms. Was Camel or another color along those lines too light for your foyer choice?

A few quick thoughts...Have you considered playing up the architectural feature of your BR ceiling by doing something different, and I could see accessorizing your BR with a range of nature's neutrals, starting with ivory and going darker, to harmonize with all the blue.

I think we looked at Camel and it didn't do it for either of us, which is unfortunate because I love that color.

It's funny you mention the architecture of the bedroom ceiling, dh and I were just talking about that last night. He's afraid (and I agree) the vault will get lost if I go all blue. We're considering just painting the middle/angle parts but I'm wondering if that will look "stripey".

I'm anxiously awaiting my samples of paint so I can get them on my bedroom walls!!!!

Sorry for not getting back to you so quickly. I've been in a sick house for a bit. One of the boys had pneumonia just before Thanksgiving then two of the three of them have had a stomach bug since Sunday.

Anyway, we're leaning toward the Seaglass for the bedroom. No decision on the ceiling yet. I taped the chips right by the window and the sky looks too grey most times of the day. I have yet to put hte paint samples on the wall. We're not going to paint until after the holidays. DH put up all the Christmas decorations including a tree in the foyer which will make the drywall repairs, not to mention painting, almost impossible. The good news is that I think I'm going to paint my bedroom with a friend (who's a great painter) so that will free up my budget to have the professional painter tackle the bonus room and bath along with the foyer!

I did pick up dupioni silk panels at JCPenny's sale on Friday to go with the valances. I just can't wait to put them up on my new blue walls!!
