Coordinating lighting, help needed!

I am selecting all the fixtures for our master bed/bath and as usual, have a conundrum. This is one of those issues I can never really figure out.

LIGHTING!

The main room will have several recessed fixtures, and the architect calls for a surface mount in the center of the room. I will most likely use a pendant instead. However, we have a small vestibule that leads into the room that also calls for a surface mount fixture.

Last week we worked up my bedroom here and I played with a Restoration Hardware lantern type fixture in the room. I definitely want it to look classic, but not boring. (It might not be classic enough in a bedroom though.)

We also may have sconces (rather than table lamps) next to the bed, and I'd like them all to coordinate without being too matchy matchy. Here is the photoshopped room with one of the RH fixtures I like.

Here are two other lights I like.

The first from rejuvenation is a simple surface mount fixture that reflects the period of my house. I like it because it's classic, but bold.

The second is another from RH that I think might look nice in my bedroom. It's more feminine than the other, but might be too fussy for me, I usually go for more simple lines. (It is less $$$ though!)

So, even though they are not in the same room, they might be seen together. Does that work? Do you prefer one over the other?

In our bathroom we also need to use 2 surface mounts (again, not sure if I should do a pendant instead) and sconces. Since it's one suite, I do want them all to coordinate in some way.

How tall are your ceilings?

The first one looks like a hall or entry fixture to me - I don't see that in a bedroom.

The second one seems like it would be too small in the center of a room, but it is an interesting piece for a hallway.

The third one is nice, but how far would it hang down? IMO, chandeliers look silly if they are too close to the ceiling without a proportional amount of chain.

Thanks megs1030. Right now, I'm planning a stainless kitchen faucet and cabinet hardware is my next decision. With the toffee maple wood cabinets, I'm pondering a darker handle, perhaps oil rubbed bronze. I have other dark wrought iron decor items that will be in the adjoining rooms. I have a few lower drawer packs (2 36", 2 30") which I plan to use larger single pulls. From what I've read, I should max out at 3 different metals (stainless, oil rubbed bronze cabinet pulls and brushed gold chandelier). For island, I like this pendant but am not sure which metal color I should go with (gold or stainless) - or if the style is all wrong. I don't necessarily like things to "match" - just be complementary.

IMO the globe is not what I would use for task lighting in a kitchen it mutes the light too uch but o also need to see what else you have for lighting there .MCM lighting can be awesome with the bulbs changed to LED 4000K . Have you checked our George Nelson lighting it comes in a huge choice of shapes and design They work well together too. I also would like to see your spaces that is a must IMO to get any real help.

Hi Les, long time no see!

The ceilings are close to 9 feet. They certainly are not low, but they are not as tall as the 9+ feet on the first floor.

The first one pictured, was what I was thinking of for the small vestibule which is maybe 3x3. This leads into the 14x14 or so bedroom.

Some of the other fixtures in the house that look old are basic brass (but since they are old they have a patina) with globe shades.

What do people do in bedrooms these days? In our old house we always had a fan, and there is a fan in there now but I don't want to keep it (we will get A/C at some point!).

This is a larger scale classic fixture I like. I don't know if it would work in a bedroom though.

The RH chandy is 28 inches high, so without extra chain it would e 6 feet above the bed (approx). Might be too low. (Have to measure exactly). But stylewise???

I can't tell you what to do so I'll just tell you what I have for the new house. In the master bedroom, recessed lights around the perimeter of the room to accent the walls, wall sconces on wall by fireplace, across from that is the bed. I have wall sconces instead of table lamps. I plan on having an uplight in the corner where I put a small tree or large plant and just a ceiling fan (no light kit) in the center of the ceiling. Maybe a floor lamp behind or beside the chair I have planned for the room, but I'll have to see if that's warranted or overkill!! HA!

In the master bath, 3 sconces, one of each side of the double vanity and one in between the two mirros, a small chand centered in the room, recessed light over toite, light in exhaust fans that are over shower and corner tub.
