Why do you like Eggshell on your walls?
Comments (3)Hey, if it's washable, it shouldn't need to be touched up right? It should be washed off. That's the theory anyway. Mattes are harder to get that even sheen across the wall look and I have tried them all. It's true Aura is the best matte around, but still doesn't look perfect on walls with a lot of light from windows coming in. With eggshell at least you can get achieve sheen uniformity. Also, mattes don't wash. Again, Aura is the best, but still not as washable as an eggshell....See MoreBM regal matte vs eggshell
Comments (5)If your hallway, stairway is not extremely high and it can be painted with a little ease without the aid of scaffolds or ladder rigs, I would opt for the eggshell (if there are going to be little handprints up/down the wall all the time. Also if there is a large height just make sure the painters can meet and greet in the middle of their long runs to compensate for a nice smooth finish; doing long heighty walls or stairs can sometimes present a quest even for the best of painters. Definitely don't want to look down at an angle with lighting coming in a certain direction and see some small flaws. In baths, I would recommend using at least your eggshell finish. I don't like the pearl(satin) finish for my customers. From BM- the gloss is to much for the pearl. There isn't any paint going to resist wear/tear or excessive cleaning or hard pushy cleaning. All paints will eventually break down and also certain types of chemicals or magic erasers used . I prefer mattes in the more adult rooms, and eggshell in children's room. Low traffic rooms I prefer more of a matte. Kitchens/baths- eggshell and that is a good quality 100% acrylic paint ; from BM (where else). good luck....See MorePicking paint finishes--what do you prefer and why?
Comments (16)Most of our house has been painted with Ace Royal paints. Ceilings are all flat and trim is semi gloss. The walls are done in eggshell and a bathroom in satin. I don't like that it doesn't touch up. The drywall in our hallway isn't super in some areas so I tried the Ace Sensations. It's a flat paint that's to be scrubbable and touches up. I'm less than impressed as it doesn't neither and can't wait to paint over it. Not a fan of the burnishing either. I finally broke down and painted another bathroom in BM Aura and it's wonderful stuff. It touches up and the finish is so rich looking. In the future, I'll use the Aura for the bathrooms since I only need a gallon. If money grew on trees, I'd use it for the whole house but I'd prefer to stick to paint in the $25-30ish price range for walls. I helped someone paint a room with one of the Valspar paints and I'll never purchase that brand. It was runny and I had one heck of a headache until we were finished. Smells normally don't bother me....See MoreWhy do you all use BM paint?
Comments (34)I used to use SW but switched to BM upon the strong recommendation of my painters, who have no affiliation and usually have me buy the paint, so I know they aren't getting kickbacks. BM goes on beautifully for me, covers completely, and can take a beating. Love the new Aura line. Just painted all the formal rooms in Safari. Maybe I'm just oversold, but I don't read design mags. To me, BM just looks rich. The dh works in a business that services the paint industry, and their scientists swear BM really is more highly pigmented and better formulated compared to the other big name brands. Hype? Dunno. But BM has never failed me. I think we are almost 100% BM on our walls now....See MoreRelated Professionals
