solution for gap between range and counter

Well, hopefully this is a long term fix. I had bought the inserts that supposedly fit between the range and counter- $30 later and it doesn't fit. Ours doesn't have enough of a gap for those inserts, but has enough of a gap to slop crumbs and gunk in.

I don't want to haul out the range to clean it constantly, so I have inserted some spline used for window screens in the gap. I left a little tail that hangs down in the rear so I can pull it out and clean it; so far, so good! My granite and my stove are both black, so it is not visible, but seems to me this would work even with a lighter granite, as the stuff snugs down in the crack pretty well, and the ridges help make a nice seal. Cheap and easy fix!
