Rugsusa.com is always great for buying online. Good quality, good prices, and great selections.

However, if you're going to plop down a large chunk of change and your rug will be big, it would be better to go to a rug or furniture store which has a rug selection and buy it there. That's because 9 out of 10 times the colors we see on the monitor aren't the same as when we get it.

I do have a large Persian and since they're very expensive we bought it at a store. I've bought wool rugs online but expected them to be lighter in color which turned out fine.

I just received a rug for my entryway from Overstock.com, it is very close to the monitor color, soft and seems to be amazing quality for the price. The search process is tiring on Overstock though. I am waiting for delivery of a family room rug by Monday.

I am going to send you to the Shops of Carolina Furniture in Williamsburg, VA. These are good honest people who sell high end furniture as well as more reasonably priced things and your Karastan rugs and Persian as well. Remember though Persian will be expensive because of the embargo. But I believe you will find traditional pieces if that is what you want. I got the Waterford shades for my lamps there and the price had not changed since I bought the original ones.
There are a couple of pretty stores in one place, owned by the same family and this is their one and only location. Things are discounted to some extent but take a good look under shops and you will see what I mean. They ship everywhere I believe.They are easy to call with no pressure.

Have you looked at Pottery Barn?

I have been looking at Overstock but boy it's hard to tell about the colors on a monitor. I think I am going to take a trip to Farmville, Va. where Greenfront furniture is. I understand that they have lots of rugs but not sure how their prices are. I have bought furniture there and the quality is good. Is anybody familiar with their rugs? I have looked at Pottery Barn but nothing has appealed to me. I do have a couple of their rugs in other rooms.

If you are that close to Farmville than that is the best idea. They have many warehouses on the same lot. I went to the Greenfront in Manassas which is much smaller and just one warehouse. They have plenty of Turkish rugs, rugs from Nepal and elsewhere as well as furniture. Friends of mine have bought beautiful rugs there in Manassas 3 or 4 years ago. When I was there this last year they had many 10'x 14' along with 4'x 6' which I wanted and other sizes. I had no idea where you lived but I have wanted to go to Farmville. Their prices are very good. You will come home with something. I live in Alexandria and they would charge me in Manassas about $150 to deliver. It is a 4 hour drive for me to Farmville and actually found rugs at Bloomingdales yearly sale which is a good one if you are near by.

I have Pottery Barn rugs too and they will sell you a sample for about $30 bucks and if you send it back they return your money which you probably already know. I like to give a shout out to good companies. I'd like feedback if you go to Farmville. Good luck
